I thought I was supposed to hate Orecks?

I cant beleive it. Found an Oreck XL at a yard sale Saturday, in very nice condition, still with all the paperwork for only 3 dollars, so figured what the heck. I had always thought Oreck was a fairly poor performer, especially going by what was said on the site, not to mention overpriced. I...

    Compact C-8 Frustration

6 foot 4 inches Lol, at that height I think your only problem would be vacs that are too short. Maybe its just me, but when the Compact is fully assembled, between the powerhead adapter, the 2 straight wands and the curved wand on the end of the hose, it just seems like a bit much. Standing...

    Compact C-8 Frustration

Ok, I love my Compact, and it is basically my daily driver for all above floor cleaning, but has anyone else noticed that the adapter Compact used for attaching the wands to the powerhead, combined with the generous length of their wands, makes it a bit awkward in use? Granted, I am short, (5...

    Should I get it?

I have a chance to get an Electrolux for a reasonable price, I just had time to glance at it, but it appeared to be a model AE with the powernozzle plug added. It is behind the pile in the graveyard at the shop, but I wanted to check some things with you guys first. How is the suction on these...

    Pictures From Last Summer's Acquisitions

Oh my goodness, fetch the smelling salts! That is one amazing and impressive gift! And they all appear to be in very very good condition. I won't lie, im a little jealous, lol.

    Electrolux XXX Handle

I may be remembering incorrectly, but isnt the XXX the one with the leather handle? If it is, and you still have the metal ends which attach to the body of the machine, a leather repair shop may be able to manufacture a new handle for you.

    Silver Knight (Looking for info)

If I remember correctly, (if being the keyword here, lol), silver knight was a short lived line produced by silver king, as an "economy model", with the silver king being the top of the line model. Electrolux was another company that did this economy model thng, so they could get customers from...

    My 1968 Fair-Fax :)

That is a very nice fairfax! As far as your voice and age, there is nothing at all wrong with either of them, and no need for you to apologize about them. I for one am glad that younger members are joining and posting, as no one lives forever, and without younger members joining, there would...

    Kenmore Twin Fan upright help

Love those twin fans! These are one of my favorites, but parts are getting hard to find. I havent had to replace brushes in one yet, but in most vacs, carbon brushes are just generic brushes like the ones available at the hardware store. I beleive the power switches can still be found online...

    F&G Eureka Motor Issues..

Speaking of ebay I think, maybe, possibly, god I hope, that it was Dialanap who got the Big Bad Orange Eureka. If so, maybe he will confirm, and then I will know both of them went to good homes..

    F&G Eureka Motor Issues..

Compact OMG, it was you!! I feel so much better now that I know someone from here got it. I was so worried it was gonna get beat up and used to death in some crummy nasty place that I almost kept it even though I dont really have the room and prefer canisters with powerhead. Now I know it...

    F&G Eureka Motor Issues..

This is so sad. Decided to work on the F&G Eureka's today. Out of the 4, (1 brandywine, 1 big bad orange BOL, and 2 blue), 2 of the motors are totally shot, and 2 are probably repairable. Which means I must choose which 2 to repair, argh.. I know the brandyine will be fixed, its soooo...

    Compact Wands Stuck Together

Tania! OMG, you are a genius! I had tried the liquid wrench and rubber mallet others have suggested, but as soon as I tried the boiling water trick, it worked! I stood on the C-5 floor tool, twisted, and it popped off so quickly I almost fell over backwards, lol.

    Compact Wands Stuck Together

I have 2 Compacts, and right now both are suffering from a similar issue. The first is the C-5, the floor nozzle is stuck to the end of the wand, and seems intent to stay there. The other is a flower power C-8, and the 2 wands are stuck together, again with no intention of ever separating. I...

    My Haul From This Weekend

Yeah, Im a sucker for Eureka F&G uprights. They always seemed like a step up from Hoovers. They are mainly what I got, and I chose some of the most distressed ones, since I'm also a sucker for a vac that has been used and abused, and just wants to be pretty and cared for again, lol. I...

Straight suction canisters vs powered brush canisters.

smaller homes.. Living in a 900 Square foot home, I see the point about a straight suction head being more agile for small spaces. I usually end up doing a good deal of cleaning in corners and under furniture using the upholstery nozzle or just the wand, since there are so many places an...

    My Haul From This Weekend

Poor little orphan.. Since this is the EXACT machine mom had when I was little, I had to rescue this poor thing. Considering all it needs, I may never get it up and running, but at least I have the woodgrain Kenmore to use. Poor baby needs a brushroll and brushroll ends, (hopefully we have...
