    The Spirit of '76

I remember when this model was new... ...and have this unshakable recollection that they were in the True Value flyers at the time. I do remember seeing it in the True Value store. My friend's father was a builder and he bought a '76 Chevy Cheyenne (or Scottsdale) pickup with 'Spirit of '76'...

Electrolux G in a beautiful color I've never seen before.

My grandfather bought a rebuilt model G from the Electrolux man in 1981. It was painted hammertone brown of the Olympia reign. I have seen the bluish-gray machines too, and I wonder if it corresponds with the Ultralux. Charles, did Electrolux rebuild the G's until the early 90's? John

Two Vacuum Cleaner Questions (Riccar 8850 & Hyla NST)

My goodness! Two collectors in tiny Letcher County? What are the odds? Glad to have a nurse practitioner. What a gap in health care you all fill in. We have at least one other nurse in the fold, Marty Rocha in California. Tolivac is right about buying a new Riccar, they have fantastic...

Hoover 102 Restoration Progress: Help I'm Stuck! - Literally

If you think the spring is rusted to the switch housing, there is a great product that I use on my cars called PBlaster. It will loosen up rust and allow the most stubborn bolts to turn. I can't do without it when I play auto mechanic. You'll find it in AutoZone and Pep Boys. John

    Kirby Shampooer Review

I don't intend to hijack the thread... ...But since shampooers are the topic, I love using my Electrolux B8 machine with Electrolux Turbo shampoo. It cleans remarkably well, dries quickly and leaves no residue. And so much quieter than a Kirby... I have a couple Kirbys but no shampoo heads...

when did Hoover get so crap?

US Hoover had good machines until somewhere in the mid-90's. The whole Windtunnel, Windtunnel V2 line were way below Hoover standards in terms of quality and longevity. I bought an Elite softbag upright in 1988 and that was a decent machine by modern standards. As a matter of fact, the eighties...

    Battery operated kirby

There was a rumor to that effect about 10-15 years ago in the G series run, along with an on board tools machine. Neither has materialized... Kirby is not one to set the innovation trail on fire, ya know. John

Haley's Comet has an appointment at the Spa.

Nice restoration, Dave! The Hailey's Comet was made here in Cincinnati but you can not find signs of one anywhere. It was interesting example of form over function. Not quite a Rube Goldberg award winner, but a close runner up. The original hose was gold and very similar if not the same as the...

    Electrolux CA on Ebay

Fred I only have a 6' hose with my machine, but I made a 10' hose with aftermarket supplies. The quietness with the strong suction is only matched in modern times by the Wap/Alto brand commercial vacuums. I have an Alto Attix RDF 12 and a Wap SQ10 that are phenomenal machines, but lack the cool...

    Electrolux CA on Ebay

I know a few tidbits... The CA came out around 1960-62 and was produced until ca. 1966. At that time Electrolux acquired a bucket company and they decided that a commercial machine could be produced cheaper by this new company. Unfortunately, they did not have the tooling to make a square...

    My Hoover Electronic 1000!

I've been meaning to add these pictures.... ...and with our record snow I'm stuck at home with time on my hands. Here are photos of my two machines, a Hoover S3231 Electronic 1000, and a private label Phase IV. The history on the Phase IV is very sketchy, but here is what I've heard- A...

Coming soon to a vac shop near you!

Great designs will eventually come back That style had such a long run it's the shape that people associate with Electrolux. I can't wait to see one up close and personal. About the suction lift - I am not impressed. How in the world can you vacuum the drapes or a throw rug? A suction bleeder...

    Another Ebay find.....

I couldn't help but notice that it is 120V. Do you have a step down convertor to run it? John
