What is your favorite Rainbow copy?

I bought a Rainbow! I bought it for $150 from the original owner, a divorced woman who is downsizing to a small home. She said she used it only for a short time after buying it because she did not like carrying it up a down the stairs. It had been treated OK, but I noticed dust in the exhaust...

What is your favorite Rainbow copy?

The Rotho website is one of the best I've seen, especially for a water filtration vacuum as they tend to be cryptic. I like the ease of dirty water disposal and clean up of the filters. Thanks for sharing

    Kirby KG 40 Tag

My Classic also has that tag hanging on the bag. It sounds like KGF-40 was designed to give the new Kirby owner the warm fuzzies.

    Spa Weekend

Nice looking cleaners! In my humble opinion, the Legend II was the best modern machine Kirby made. It is easy to maneuver and deep cleans carpets very well.

What is your favorite Rainbow copy?

Rob, I always enjoy reading your take on a vacuum. I understand where you are coming from on emptying dusty bins. I grew to dislike using the Dyson because I would invariably get dust in my face cleaning it out (although it cleaned carpet very well). I want a water vacuum as more of a novelty...

What is your favorite Rainbow copy?

I spent the afternoon visiting a couple vacuum stores. The first was a real treat, the owner has been in the business 40 years and was hospitable. He showed me around his store and talked about the vintage machines that were given to him by people who hated to throw an old machine away. He also...

What is your favorite Rainbow copy?

The Thermax is a well built machine but bulky. I would prefer a vac with a separator, like Delphin, Rainbow, etc. The local vac shop sells refurbished D4C's and SE's and they tell me those machines are better than the E series in every way. I don't know if I believe it, though.

What is your favorite Rainbow copy?

It's time for a new toy to play with. I'm looking for something different, and as I don't have a water vacuum, one of those would be fun to have. We are pleased with our daily driver and don't need to spend a wad of money on a vacuum - my goal is $100-300. Rainbows tend to go $400-600 used on...

    Today's POD of Model 111

John, I ran across this very model about 12 years ago in a thrift store in Louisville. It looked great and was h e a v y, and deceptively quiet when it ran. Another collector was with me and he bought it - I bought a Hoover 825 sitting next to it. Those were good thrifting days! John

    Test Drive of Miele

I agree with you on the bags, Rex. You can fill them insanely full and the machine still has suction power. I love my Aquarius after 2 years of use. The only shortcoming is a shortish cord; otherwise it is a well-rounded everyday vacuum. Rob, go with the TOL machines, Earth (I think this is the...

    Kenmore Whispertone 90

Mike, I am also interested in the Kenmore. Email me if it's still available. The Whirlpool vacuum factory is/ was in the Bluegrass of Kentucky, not Tennessee. I used to drive by it regularly and witnessed the name change on the building from Whirlpool to Matsushita. I haven't been by there in...

I used to make fun of these...

I stopped by the Miele dealer a couple weeks ago to buy bags for my Aquarius. While we were talking I noticed two Miele Arts in the corner, dusty but unused, that I've seen there for the couple years I've been stopping in. I asked him if anyone asks for them, and he said "no, and I would love to...

    My New Kirby Model C4

It looks to be 100% original. Holy cow, nice machine! John

    Canadian Hoover 651...

That's a great question I'll defer to Fred S. or another Hoover expert. I assumed they were limited production machines sold in stores. In the States, the nameplate simply said Hoover Model 65. I guess the serial number might differentiate a Golden from the standard pink/white vac. John

    Canadian Hoover 651...

That's fairly rare It was in the US called the golden Convertible, made in 1958 to commemorate Hoover's Golden Anniversary. I'm glad you went back to get it, and if you're not attached to it, drop me a line:) The original bag, IIRC, was off white with gold lettering and a gold strip at the...

    Miele Canisters

Aquarius It has been our daily driver for two years and still impresses me. It is a step below the Capricorn, and while the hose does not have the motor control handle, it is longer and more practical. The only demerit is a power cord that is about a foot to short. Now discontiuned, but...

    Thrift store Dial A Matic!!!!!

A 1970 OG Wilson catalog has this 1120 in the same color scheme. The orange/dark chocolate combo is one of my all time favorites. Your machine is fab, Hans. John

    Filter Queen Wet Vac????? ebay.

Ya, saw that ad last week and laughed. That's a commercial pan on the model 31, for DRY pickup. To my knowledge, there is no wet pick-up kit for a Filter Queen. Anyone else know? John

    Hoover 913

Gosh, I feel old. Most department stores used this machine when I was a kid. I can stiil hear them run and you can be sure that I would search over the store whenever I heard that low hum. Their quietness is impressive and they clean great because of excellent airflow. Mom frequented Dawahare's...

    Another fun find

Years ago I had the pleasure of knowing Ms. Dobbie Magee, co-owner of old family furniture store in my family's hometown. They were long time Hoover dealers, starting somtime before WW II. Dobbie was the Hoover trained repair woman and there wasn't fix she couldn't make happen nor a model she...
