    Hoover Convertible Belts...

...free to a good home. I no longer have my Convertibles, and am cleaning out my junk/storage room, and have five packs of new, genuine Convertible belts, Type 48/Part 49258 that I don't need. Four of the packs are in unopened cellophane, and one pack used to be a blister card, though the...

Your one favorite Kirby OF ALL TIME

Classic 1CR I am not saying that my choice is the best that Kirby ever made, just my favorite.     I like the machine for a variety of reasons, the first being of a sentimental nature:  my parents owned this model, purchasing it new, when I was in junior high school.  I have always been...

Who here has a Broom Vac?

I like the Broom Vac... ...so much, I own three - two Dirt Devils, and one blue Royal. I keep one in the mud room, and use it to vacuum the area rug by the back door, and the mat by the kitchen door. I use one, and the other two are spares. The vac is perfect for the smaller size of the rug -...

    Electrolux Epic 3500 SR Upright

For the last five years, since moving to the middle of nowhere after having lived in the city for twenty years, I have been lamenting the lack of vacuums at the local thrift shops.  One week ago, I finally found a machine.   I bought an Electrolux Epic 3500 SR for $8.95 at a local Goodwill...

I haven't seen one of these in a while!

Cool! Thanks for the braking info.   Joe

I haven't seen one of these in a while!

Now, I am curious... In many of the photos above, I see a little metal lever in front of the large rear wheel.  What is the purpose of that "gizmo?"    Some sort of a little brake for the rear wheel, the little rubber nub wedging upon the wheel?  Am I overlooking the obvious?   Do...

    Eureka 5048B Question

I have a question about the Eureka model 5048B. I picked this vacuum up at a thrift store when I was still living in Pittsburgh, which would have been somewhere around 2004 or so. Since moving in 2006, I have found that this vac handles my area rugs better than my Convertibles, Kirbys, or...

    Electrolux oxygen

I have both... ...the 7020 Cayenne and the Ultra Silencer Green without the power nozzle. The 7020 has the newer power nozzle, and works quite well on the area rugs. While not a fan of LED lighting, the nozzle light works very well at illuminating the area being vacuumed. That vac was...

Tell me about this Electrolux..... please :O)

As Terry said... The wands are bulky, and the controls on the grip are problematic. My controls failed (I bought the machine for $7.95 at a thrift shop), and I always had to disconnect the hose to switch the machine off. That being said, I liked the machine, and wish that I had kept it. Joe

    My new baby is here...

Great find... What a nice machine. I have the very same vac, but it is missing the rubber bumper that wraps around the dolly. My parents had this machine when I was a little kid, and retired it in the late 60s when they had avocado plush wall to wall carpeting put down and bought a new Kirby...

    Exhaust direction on canister vacs

I rarely use... my PowerTank for that very reason. It's a great machine, but the jet blast from the exhaust is a bit much. Joe

    Check Out This Hoover Vacuum....

Just last evening... I caught this ad for a Hoover Dirt Devil on the Pittsburgh Craig's List. Joe http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/app/1852124721.html

GE Vac Bags Free to a Good Home

Hi all: I am cleaning out the junk room/office (known around here as the "Go to Hell Room"), and came across four packages of vac bags "designed to fit" Premier, Whirlwind, and General Electric Model U-8 upright cleaners. Two packages were made by DVC (one is opened, but still contains four...

"I was not able to figure out how to open canister and look at the inside bag,"

I just don't understand... sellers on eBay. When I was selling items on eBay (before the paperless payment ruling), I always did my research on items that I was listing. I wanted to know all about the item and be able to post a description that was as factual and complete as possible. I know...

    This is driving me nuts...

Thanks Dave! Now I know that my brain cells are not drying up! I feel better now. Joe

    This is driving me nuts...

I had the chance to spend some time in the city today, and visited a few of my old thrift store haunts. I picked up this Electrolux carpet tool, not because I have a machine that needs it, simply because at $1.91, I couldn't pass it up. What is driving me crazy is my inability to find a thread...

What is your favorite vacuum in your collection

I never really thought about a favorite, but... I guess I would have to place the honors on my Kirby Classic and Classic Omega. The Omega was bought for me by my parents back in the early 1980s when I needed a vacuum for my first place, and the Classic came from a vacuum shop that had taken...

    kirby's only.

Yeah... Edgar's Legend II is blue on my work PC, but on my home PC, it is maroon. 'Tis odd! Joe

    kirby's only.

I was planning on an evening of relaxation... and then I read this thread, which prompted me to drag out my Kirbys and do a couple of group photos. The machines stay in the back of my office, and it's a little difficult to get to them for frequent dusting, and I see that they are in need of an...
