    Thrift store find!

Picked up this Universal Jet 99 tank up. Was $19.99, got it for $10. Just the unit only, nothing else. I tested it out with an Electrolux cord and it runs pretty good.

    Calling All Eureka Model-M Owners

Calling all vacs, calling all vacs! The model "M". I have two in my collection. I've always thought it was interesting how slow the brush roller rotates, and how the fans is without a back plate.

    Westinghouse

Me oh my, what a scandal, check it out, a Westinghouse WITHOUT A HANDLE! What would help is a special tip, because this poor vac needs a better grip.

Loose handle on Dial A Matic

Picked this Hoover model 1140 Dial A Matic up at a thrift store. Runs pretty good, I just can't figure out how to tighten the handle. There's a screw located in the back that says to "tighten screw firmly" but this does nothing. Any input guys? Sincerely, "Loose and Confused"

    Kirby Question...

Interesting... I'll have to go take a second look at it. Thanks Ben. Would this model originally have a foot flip switch? It had a metal button. It also had black wheels and a grey cover at the bottom of the Sani-emtor.

    Kirby Question...

I came across a Kirby 514 or 513 at a thrift store. I noticed it had an aluminum brush roll on it. I don't remember ever seeing this on a Kirby. Is this a replacement part, or "made to fit" part?

Wanted, Royal shake out bag slide and chain

Would anyone happen to have a shake out bag slide and chain for a Royal? I'm going to have to buy a new shake out bag for my Electro Hygiene and the slides are going for $24.00. Thanks Anthony

    Filtex

Early Filtex Those are perfect examples of the Filtex I like! What year do these date to? Judging by the style, I'd say late 30's early 40's? I predominantly lean towards uprights, but there are a few neat lookin' tanks that I'd certainly go for.

Look what I picked up today

Well... I find old vacuums here and there really, sometimes at thrift stores, other times at antique stores, and there is always ebay. I'm not sure if these were ever popular, but something tells me that these were costly when new. I think one of the reasons that these Singer cleaners are so...

    Royal upright model 285

Jeff Thank you SO much, for all that information! I had an Electro Hygiene straight suction, but lent it to a friend to use. It's now in Las Vegas. I don't remember the model number on it however. That Good Housekeeper model 189 is really beautiful, I especially like how the arm is painted black.

    Royal upright model 285

Thank you Thanks for the information John, Jeff and Ben. So I'm to assume this cleaner was made sometime in the mid to late 1950's? And what's the story with Electro Hygiene, I mean I know it's basically the same as a Royal, but why, why would Royal put out a cleaner with a different name...
