    Kirby 508

Sanitairewill Any photos? I really love the look of these early Kirbys in black wheels. When did Kirby stop with the black magic fingers? Were 508s the first to come out with the red ones?

    New Toy!

To find old cleaners I will always strive, and in most cases I don't even mind the drive. I couldn't say no to Letgo so... $15 later, I ended up with a Kirby 505!

    Serendipitous Thrift Store Find

I wasn't going to stop, but I said eh why not? Came across this Electro Hygiene model 966. Has most of its original attachments, and even the instruction manual.

Switch Being that this has that plastic wire bracket, would a standard switch for a 505 fit?

    New Toy

Metal wheels Well the rear wheels are definitely metal. I don't understand why though. The two front wheels are standard black rubber. Maybe someone changed out the rear wheels for a slightly smaller size for the head to sit lower?

    New Toy

Les I saw this on ebay. So the wheels on a 4c are metal?

    New Toy

I couldn't help it. I just had to have it. It came with a bunch of gadgets and do-dads too! Surprisingly enough, the hose is soft and supple with NO air leaks! I couldn't believe it. Couple of strange things though. This has 2 smaller rear metal wheels, and what seems to be a painted emptor...

Bottom where wires go to switch I see a "510", an "E", and a "2"...

    Kirby 505

Good and bad news... First the good news: I had the front and rear bearings replaced,(THANK YOU KIRBY NEEDS!) and I am amazed how quiet it runs now! I hadn't had a Kirby in years. Come to think of it, Kirby was probably my first love in vacuum collecting. Now for the bad news... Sorry mom, you...

    Kirby 505

F & g F&G adaptor on this cleaner? No, it's got an emptor.

    Kirby 505

Handel Fork I have a few parts laying around and polished up an open handle fork and swapped it out for now. If I find out that the closed end fork was original to this machine, I'll swap it out again.

    Kirby 505

Sani-emptor Nope, no sweet aire port. How about the "handle fork", the early 500's have an open fork, opposed to one with a "skirt", right?

    Kirby 505

Question I got to thinking... maybe the Kirby I have isn't a 505... Could it be a different early 500 series? The model plate is missing. Are there any clues to look out for that would give me a better Idea as to what model this is?

    Kirby 505

Cool! Thanks for the info guys! Its funny, not too long ago I thought, "I haven't seen a Kirby with a flip switch around in a long time..." then this one pops up on Letgo.

    Kirby 505

Picked this up today for mother. I haven't had a Kirby in a long time. I know Kirby's aren't generally the quietest of cleaners, but I'm sure I'm going to need new bearings. I haven't worked on a Kirby and forever, are bearings for these 505s hard to find these days?

    Thrift store find!

I think it's a little funny looking. When I first saw it, I was like: "Uh, where are the wheels?" The bag set up is very similar to Compact.
