    Just some thoughts.

My 2 cents Trust me, I have little knowledge compared to the people on this site. I have found the archive posts invaluable to me....it seems the current posts are not as "good". It may be attributable to a few things - Quite a few of the questions/observations have already been addressed. When...

    Universal vacuum on eBay

Too bad it doesn't run and is missing parts...I think it's pretty cool. The nozzle and front cover appear to be one unit ? I don't think I've ever seen a nozzle that doesn't come apart at the cover...

New and improved Air Way Dust indicator

thanks The art work was the hardest part..we had to take a picture of my good indicator and enhance it a bit...darken the lettering by tracing with a computer "pencil" and changing the colors to match the actual one. We experimented with 3 different types of glass paint. After the art work was...

New and improved Air Way Dust indicator

My project is complete. I made a brand new dust indicator and I have to say I'm very pleased with the results. I had purchased a donor AirWay just for the unbroken indicator. The donor is nice and runs perfectly so I was still in need of an indicator. Picture #1 are the broken pieces from my...

    Well, getting ready for Halloween

Our house I had to replace my Baby Hoover near the fireplace with the small size one.. scary thing is that most of the "stuff" in the picture is there year round. We like the haunted house look.

    Air Way Dust indicator

follow up Sorry - I wrote the above while at work ...so, I was in work mode. Short and to the point ... I should have written this: I am trying to make a replacement for the Air Way upright's dust indicator since mine is broken. I already have a piece of dome shaped glass that fits perfectly...

    Air Way Dust indicator

See my thread 39022... If anyone has a good "clean" picture of the dust indicator, please email it to me. That's all I need to make a new glass piece to replace the broken celluloid part. I googled it and could not find a good pic.

    Another Handheld Cadillac... with box?

Box Hmmmmm.... the box color seems to match the color of the "Cadillac" on the bag... and it does fit nicely in there...the construction of the box seems to be from that time period.. I'm guessing it is the original box But, only a guess

    Kirby Utility Model H

more pics I did not take the entire front off to show the 2 ports for suction or blowing out but, here are some more pics....I do show the front in suction mode and by moving the lever, raised the entire front to blowing mode. Pics 4 and 5 show to vacuum in blowing mode. I have no idea what the...

    Kirby Utility Model H

Adambomb Hello - if your bag is original, does it have any writing or logo on it ? And how does it attach ? Mine did not have the bag so my wife made one out of heavy black material. She printed an old Kirby logo on it. I attached mine by sewing a ring into the opening of the material that...

Air Way uprights - same problem

Removing snap ring Well....bikerray and Madman were right.....there is merely a snap ring holding the celluloid in..I removed the remaining celluloid, put some WD40 on the snap ring, pried it right out..easily I found a source for the glass (only $5)...will hopefully make a decal and will be...

Air Way uprights - same problem

replacement indicator face Thank you everyone for your input/advice.. I think I'll have to very carefully remove the broken indicator piece without damaging the exterior "ring". I'm hoping I can remove the celluloid ring without prying open the exterior ring...we'll see..They do sell glass...

    $100 Shipping?

shipping cost I believe if you walk in to a FedeX or UPS store, the shipping and packaging is quite expensive. If you have access to a business account, it is much cheaper. I've had vacuums shipped to me (some quite heavy and bulky) for about $ 40 on the average. $ 200 makes no sense to me. dave

Air Way uprights - same problem

warped handle Never thought of that......and I should know because our house is 139 years old... Amazing that 90+ year old vacuums still run and look nice thanks !

Air Way uprights - same problem

The third vacuum added to my small collection is the Air Way upright. I bought it at an antique mall in Columbus..it works perfectly but the air direction indicator was broken. I've been looking for a replacement (didn't bid high enough on the NOS one on eBay) and I finally bought a donor...

    Sanitary Special non-electric

Does anyone know anything about this sweeper ? It has no identification except the name "Sanitary Special" and "patents pending". I have no idea who made it but I do know that you get a running start by the time you get to the end of the room the bag fills up with air. Haven't noticed if it...

    Kirby Utility Model H

Dysonman1 So sorry...I'm not questioning anyone...I don't know anyone on this site and am only looking for any pictures, ads, advice, etc. on my machines. I admire old vacuums but have little knowledge of them..I'm in the early learning phase. My posts may come across the wrong way. I could...

    Kirby Utility Model H

documentation If anyone has any documentation on this model...and especially if it was sold to the public, I'd like to see it. The only "thing" I could find was an old post by a guy stating that he had a copy of the patent for it. I know a guy (around 86 years of age) that sold Kirby's while...
