American Vacuum Cleaner Co Looking For Information

It's amazing how in only a few short years, vacuums evolved from this weird contraption to something very similar to what we still have today.

I don't think dye clogs the fabric. Sounds like bs to me.

American Lincoln Super-Sweep: Change from Slotted Head Screw to Phillips Head?

On any assembly line, changes take place over time. They're not about to just throw away a thousand screws just because they're slotted and they're moving to phillips. They're gonna use them till they're gone.

    Antique Sweepers and Vacuums

Hey the last picture is the Success - exactly like the one I've got.

    Time Capsule Kenmore JR

Wrinkle paint was a common enough finish for stuff back in the day... but the switch has overspray on it. I doubt the factory would've painted these with everything assembled. I wonder if it was a vacuum shop or rebuilding program that painted them.

I mean, technically, couldn't you just heat up a big pot of oil?

    W T F ???

Yeah took me a moment to understand the 'related' listings. It's listed in the art/sculptures category. Actually, if you were gonna pick a category to get away with this kind of crap, that'd be the one. Seeing as how idiots and money launderers have paid millions of dollars for a banana duct...

    Magic Suction Cleaner

There are a couple more, called semi-portable. I suppose that means they're like canister vacs without wheels. There's a full page ad for the Frantz on page 354. And one for the Cleveland on 372.

    Magic Suction Cleaner

A snippet from "Electric Cooking, Heating, Cleaning, etc. Being a Manual of Electricity in the Service of the Home" (Don't you love those old timey book titles?) Very interesting read, btw. Free on google books. Written by an upper middle class British housewife in like 1914, I believe. The...

    Cheap Clements Marilyn

Neat. Private label Clements. Model 1940 - probably the year. It looks a little bit late for prewar - has the bottom access cover. Looks like a plain bearing model. Basically the same as the one I have, but a bit later. 155 watts, more than the older model, less than the post-war ones. Probably...

Does anyone know what this originally looked like?

That thing's been on ebay for a long time. Sad thing is, a while back on craigslist I saw the head only that would've fit that motor. Long gone, now.

    Aluminium polishing issue

You should be able to get a mirror shine out of just about any metal. Different metals or alloys of metals will *look* different, just in terms of the color of the metal. It is likely that more modern Kirby's will be a different alloy. Back in the day aluminum was virgin aluminum and nothing...
