What is the “What Were They Thinking?!” Product of the vacuum world?

Powerstarenergy That is indeed the infamous QuickSteamer Plus that my mom received from a coworker of hers. And yes, it does have a direct air design. When I disassembled the machine, I was shocked to see an impeller mounted close to the suction opening. When dirty solution is picked up, it...

What is the “What Were They Thinking?!” Product of the vacuum world?

There is only one I could think of... The Hoover SteamVac Agility. A carpet cleaner that claimed to make deep cleaning as easy as vacuuming, its fatal flaw lied in the internal recovery hose. It was WAY too short and could not stand up to repeated raising and lowering of the handle during...

What if bagless dust cups were made of glass instead of plastic?

panasonicvac I do agree with the points you've made, since I'm also a huge fan of bagless vacuums. Seeing the dirt that I've picked up gives me a sense of satisfaction and confidence, knowing that my vacuum is doing its job. On the other hand, if I were using a bagged vacuum, I would not be as...

What if bagless dust cups were made of glass instead of plastic?

Alright Thanks for all the replies on this hypothetical scenario. I agree, glass would indeed make a vacuum much heavier and therefore harder to maneuver. As for cloudiness and wear, I have a set of glass mixing bowls which have seen their fair share of use over the years (scratch marks from...

What if bagless dust cups were made of glass instead of plastic?

I decided to make this thread to ask a pretty interesting hypothetical question that had been floating around in my head for a long time now: What if on bagless vacuum cleaners, the clear dust bin was made using glass *instead of* plastic? I was inspired to ask this after seeing how most...

    Picking out a vac!

I remember... Right at the end of 2007 (four days after Christmas), I went with my dad to Target to pick out a new vacuum to replace our well-worn Bissell CleanView. We came home with a Dyson DC07 Animal, which was the oldest Dyson model still on sale at the time. And the rest is history.

    Tennant T7 AMR

My high school had one of these machines a decade ago; the custodians used it in the large "commons" space to scrub the floor after all 3 lunch periods were over. Sadly, I never got to use this myself, but I always found it fascinating to watch whenever I was walking to and from classes.

    Vacuums at my Goodwill

What a flashback... I'm not sure why someone decided to revive this old thread of mine, but those vacuums are indeed long gone, and I stopped volunteering at this Goodwill after 7 months. That October, when an opening popped up, I hurriedly applied for it. They reviewed my qualifications, but...

Dyson DC17 Rattling Brushroll - Easy Fix

I've had my Dyson DC17 Absolute Animal for 2 years now, having purchased it off eBay in November 2021. Although there's nothing really wrong with it, there is a major annoyance that I've been meaning to address. The annoyance in question has to do the brush roll. The original one had worn down...

    Eureka RD Belt

This belt was included with my 10 amp Fantom Fury as an "extra belt," but it's clearly the wrong one. So rather than let it go to waste, I've decided to give it away, just for the cost of shipping. Is anyone in need of a Eureka RD belt? If so, feel free to send me an email.

    10 Amp Fantom Fury

panasonicvac Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I will be pulling out this Fury every once in a while to make sure it still works. As a matter of fact, I do the same thing with my retro game consoles, and they all work great still. Today, I started to refurbish my Fantom Fury. I washed most of the...

    10 Amp Fantom Fury

Addendum + Test A few things that I forgot to mention in my OP: The headlight does indeed work; it presumably has the original bulb. The bumper is a little bit loose on the right side (looking at the front of the vacuum). The sticker on the wand that says "squeeze to release" is well worn. One...

    10 Amp Fantom Fury

My ultimate vacuum cleaner dream has finally been fulfilled. I bought this 10 amp Fantom Fury off eBay last week, and it came in yesterday. However, I had to work an extremely busy shift at my job last night (ugh), so I didn't get to unbox the vacuum until today. I have been after a 10 amp...

    Dirt Devil Cleaning Slippers

Thanks! It would be fun cleaning the floor downstairs with these slippers. Caligula, as for the devices shown in those patents, I have seen similar devices being used in the beginning of the Fantom Cyclone XT infomercial. It starts off with a black-and-white clip of a house being cleaned in...

    Dyson DC-17

I have one of these! I bought mine used off eBay for $188 with free shipping back in November 2021. I mainly did so as revenge for my dad suddenly selling our Dyson DC07 that was formerly my mom's (he was confused as to why she foisted it back to us after I surprised her with a new Hoover Air...

    Dirt Devil Cleaning Slippers

For my birthday last week, I received these "cleaning slippers" as a bit of a gag gift. They are designed for hands-free cleaning, such as dusting and mopping. The pads on each slipper are removable and machine-washable. Thoughts on this crazy product?

The rare ORIGINAL Dirt Devil Vision.

Back in the early 2000s, I owned one of these in light gray, which had a Performance Indicator. It was the first vacuum that my parents bought to use in our then-new house with white wall-to-wall carpeting. Ditto what Dustin said about it. My mom unintentionally broke the belt one day in the...

Bissell introduces a literal steam cleaner for carpets

This morning, I received a promotional email from Bissell regarding an all-new carpet deep cleaner. The Revolution HydroSteam Pet produces actual steam, something I have never seen on a consumer-grade carpet cleaner before. This gives a whole new meaning to the commonly-used term "steam...

    Work vacuums!

At my work (private, resort-style country club set within a master-planned community), the porters use a Bissell BigGreen Commercial ProCup bagless upright for cleaning the carpet and rugs throughout the building. This particular vacuum is essentially a commercial version of the original...

    Overpriced budget vacuums on Amazon

The other day, I was looking on Amazon for vacuums just for fun, and noticed that the Hoover WindTunnel Max Bagged (UH30600), which is normally a $200 machine, has really gone up in price, to nearly $300! I thought this was quite a ripoff for a budget vacuum on Amazon. Has anybody else become...
