Hoover 652 Made in Turkey by Gülok Makina

Hoover 652 Rebirth "built quality is a little inferior I guess." How about,"rebuild quality is quite superior I know." Fixed that for you, Yavuzss, great job. Can you share a photo of your other 652's some time? Also, what do you find the most difficult part of doing the restoration other than...

    Antiques Roadshow

AntiquesRoadshow Update huskyvacs, Surprise Surprise! There was a gentleman pushing a turn of the century vacuum across the huge lawn at a 16th century castle. He was struggling and the host went over to ask if she could help. So he stopped, long enough to catch his breath. He was on his way...

Craftsman 16 Gallon Wet/Dry Curb Find

Curb find! It sounds like your neighbor took good care of his equipment, so hopefully after you get the "recent" usage washed off by whomever it will be a good find for you. At least the person who put it out on the curb was thoughtful enough to include all the attachments. If the family didn't...

    I have a 103 Now!

Victor It sure was, sorry about that! About that bag kit,I don't remember if a hose was included, doubt it,but I know I hooked one up and used the 103 as a hand held blower just for kicks. The adapter directs the exhaust through a round port that would accept a hose, though it wasn't advertised...

    I have a 103 Now!

Victor Great job on the Dirt Devil.Did replacing the bearings take care of the vibration on the spin down? Curious if you were able to re-pack the old bearings or if you went with new? Your brushes look fine so probably a low mileage unit. I bought my first #103 in '92 and it still runs...

    Anyone into carpet sweepers?

I don't blame you, While assisting my sister in unloading a rental van at the recycling center,(dumps), I saw a little pink toy carpet sweeper that looked new to me. Had two rollers! So in the interest of recycling and saving the planet I brought it home. Works great, other than being small...

Does anyone have those days they just want to get done and not fiddle with the vacuum?

Old fashion I guess, The kitchen and bathroom floors get swept or dust mopped (remember those?), no? Then wet mopped on all fours, and buffed dry with fluffy terry cloth towel. Four coats of Zep commercial floor polish makes this crazy easy! Sanitaire or WindTunnel for d2d cleaning and Kirby...

    Antiques Roadshow

What I see mostly on AR are items that you might see at an auction. The paintings are often valued in the thousands, not all but a lot. Furniture from the 16th century, jewelry from way back, pottery, vases, fine china, you name it. Then you get the unusual like the lady whose husband collected fancy...

    Kenmore Whispertone upright

I've seen whispertone's that go back to '93-'94 and they could go back even further. There's a website that has all the sears catalogues from before WWII to whenever they stopped printing them.I got the name of the sight from over at A.Washers and I can't remember the name now. I'll get it and...

    Revisiting the Eureka 2010

Just wunderin... Hey Barry, have you taken the hood off or to the side? If so, how'd things look? Curious if that black piece of bakelite that fell out was from motor or ? Also, were you able to salvage the brush roll? Do you think a full service dry cleaners could help with fixing or...

    Revisiting the Eureka 2010

"What's under the hood?" Hi Barry, When you mentioned something rolling around under the hood I thought one of the two springs holding the hood down had come loose, not uncommon. If you find a plastic wire nut rolling around check the wiring up top to see if any wires twisted together are...

    Cleaning up after the tree

Ahhh... the smell of pine I like the way pine needles leave a scent in the cleaner post holiday cleanup. Home maid odorific! Although later, when it's time to replace the bag I'm over it until next holiday! As it is I'll be finding stray pine needles through April at least.

    Eureka Whirlwind Lite (410)

Foam filters I'm wondering if you could buy a piece of foam similar in density to other vacs you have, and fashion a filter yourself? You can buy a little more time with the paper filter by tapping and then using another vac with a dust attachment or shop vac. Some can be hand washed in sudsy...

    Hamilton Beach Model C Mixer

Stray voltages I may have a similar condition with a couple vintage Sunbeam Mixers. While plugged in ,depending on plug position in socket, you can feel a little vibration if you run your hand down the side of the mixer. Reversing the plug remedies that. I remember there were a few tableware...
