    Super sweep 18

Wow Looking at this Power Flite from the top angle, I would have never guessed this was a Kirby product. Was the 5amp motor the same as the ones in the D-80's?

    I'm such a vac addict...

you did good Edgar, a year is a respectable amount of time to go without a purchase. Don't be so hard on yourself. I wouldn't pass up a Kirby either and I'm capped off at 51.Especially a legend II, though geez. Who knows, the motor could have fewer hours on it and you could do a little...

    Super sweep 18

Les, Nice vacuums. What, besides the obvious paint scheme, sets these janitronics apart from the regular Kirby's from the same time period? Kirby's have always been considered commercial quality machines,so just curious what's different about these performance wise? Billy

    hoover model 62

That's what I do I also use stretched hoover belts on some of my Eurekas! Sometimes soaking the belt in hot water for 30 minutes helps, but if the belt is decidedly too small, time to check with older established repair shops. Maybe bring the machine with you if possible?

    Eureka "Color-Pak" 1945-1995

Paul, Just wondering, with Eureka being under the stewardship of quite a few companies, is there a chance that as the list of models progresses, a notation could be added to show who was the captain of the ship? I've been curious many times and wondered if a new model was introduced, or changes...

    Sanitaire Brand and Model History

Just wonderin' Does anyone know what the numbers and letters that precede the model number stand for? All of mine are just marked with model# like SC888. I'm seeing more of this in the later models with as many as four letters and numbers tagged at the end.

repairman what a great looking restoration, glad you rescued another piece of history. Any idea what the raised 8 represents on the blower beneath the bag? Model 8?

    1st restore of this year

fan pulley question Hi Jim, I was looking at your fan pulley which wear wise looks identical to mine, original. I was told that the tip is wearing down and could result in slippage down the road. I haven't seen a new belt pulley for my 510 or 512 so I can't compare. I know that replacing a...

Hoover 8951 blender in Almond or Harvest Gold

If it's an Oster blender you can use jar lids from other model years. I have blenders that span 30 years and can switch them out,no prob. Shouldn't be too hard to find a lid to work. I remember seeing new jars, lids, blades and jar gaskets in hardware and dept. stores. I'd consider buying it and...

    Time to organize ,etc...

Funny, "What's with the vacuums", been there heard that. My favorite, be it mixers or vacuums or logo'd t-shirts is "do you really NEEED that many ..." I say of course I don't NEEED that many but as a collector that's what we do, collect get it? Sheesh! I wouldn't ask my sister if she really...

    NIB Bissell Lift Off 3554

I agree with fan-of-fans It seems strange that the rollers shut off when placed in the upright position. My Bissell lift off (18Z6 cyclone) has two switches on the lift off canister. One for power and an on/off switch for the rollers. I can flip the rollers off for hard floor or hose and...

    1st restore of this year

Hi Jim, I was wondering have you ever had to repair/replace the handle spring mechanism on any of these early 500's. About 20 years ago I got my first 510. The handle wouldn't stay up. My Kirby repair guy said he couldn't fix it but his brother in law could. He said there were only a couple...

I was thinking maybe let the new carpenter know there's nothing to fear if he hears noises from within the walls, just friendly ghosts coming in to keep warm.

(1995) Hoover steam vac Supreme model F5825.

I have a #5899-910 It is the most dependable machine I've ever had. Hasn't cost a penny in repairs and works as good as it did new. About once a year I run a little CLR or vinegar through the machine, letting it sit for about 15 min then release the rest and suck it up and follow with clear...

    Capacitor on Electrolux XXX vacuum

In the past year or so, there have been a couple members who posted photos of their machines (vacuums) after the capacitor had exploded. It didn't bring the roof down but made quite a mess. The general consensus was to go ahead and remove them especially as old as they are. Nobody reported...

Hamilton Beach Crock Watcher Auto Shift

Well, I tried Hi Edgar, Well finally spent the time to figure out how to open up the crock pot, to see if anything looked wrong. I couldn't get the pot up over 200 on any setting. The hollow tube centered in the bottom of the base acts as a drain and also holds the bottom to the metal housing...
