    Last vacuum always wins?

@ rivstg1 Considering you went from a newer machine to and older machine shows that the older machine is still a very good performer. It only took me about 10 minutes one Saturday morning in January of 1972 do discover that my Grandmother was correct that I was going to like the New Kirby...

    Last vacuum always wins?

@jo A good Central vacuum would be an excellent solution for your situation. I used a Beam central vacuum about 15 years ago that got my respect. The first vacuum of any design that could convince me to consider walking away from my Kirby. Plug a hose into the wall jack and do your thing. I...

What will the CCP Virus mean for Kirby?

I have always felt that you should be able to purchase a Kirby or Rainbow from a dealers store. Those of us that are familiar with the product don't need the demonstration in home. As for the sales force it is the same mind set that is going on today with the hording of PPE, disinfectants and...

What will the CCP Virus mean for Kirby?

Kirby will take a hit in all of this no different than any other organization. Long about the time Bars and restaurants, arenas, theaters and such reopen to full operation. People will let the Kirby sales man in if interested. Some people will still stay in isolation by choice out of fear...

    Cordless Upright Water Filtration Vacuum

Nice Idea. But wouldn't have one. That would be no different than setting up a Rainbow or similar full size vacuum to clean the crumbs off a chair. Far to much hassle and as we all know many consumers just don't want to take the time for proper care of a vacuum of any description. Also what...

    Royal Vacuum Company

@gottahaveahoover I agree with you. I like the Hoover Windtunnel vacuums. Now the price is out of site for the Royal badge. Also don't have the stretch hose. Those fixed length hoses are a Royal pain to use. Pun intended. I also like the metal Royal upright in-spite of being a died in the...

    Royal Vacuum Company

They are still sold to some degree as a commercial vacuum. Notice that the design of the model with the on board tools is the same design as the Hoover Windtunnel vacuum. https://banksvac.com/shop-by-brand/royal/royal-upright-vacuums/

    Vacuums on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood

I do remember one time during the opening scene in the 70's that Mr. Rodger put away the vacuum cleaner the cleaning lady had left sitting out. That was a Rexair vacuum of the time.

Is the Kirby's airflow and performance over exaggerated?

To each his own. More of a move to get an argument going by O.P. No secret that many in today's world many have been brain washed into believing the Kirby has no place in today's market. We have all seen the posts that Kirby needs to redesign it product to look and perform like today's...

    Dump Bag Kirby Legend II

On the Heritage II and Legend II you need the short Axle for the Heritage model and earlier for the Sani emptor to lock into place. The Rear wheels stick out to far from the body of the machine for proper clearance other wise. I converted my Heritage II for a Sani emptor when I bought it.

Nice find. It is the Holy grail of Kirby's. A very Rare bird indeed.

    Well, scratch one Kirby...

@human I have a couple of Kirby Heritage I's. 2 I have used for work. One needs a good cleaning up however still very service able. 1 needs a handle spring. I could part with. I have to stay on a roll. I just bought eariler this summer a 2001 addition from a rummage sale and shipped it to a...

    Next Kirby?

Rainbow was long over due to increase the airflow and suction power of the vacuum. According to what has been posted here there is supposed to be a 30% increase. A light bulb in the water pan hardly improves it's over all performance. I for one wasn't impressed by the redesign of the power...

Why I think canisters aren't popular in United States anymore

Personally I find canister vacuums a pain to manipulate around furniture. The power unit gets caught on the furniture as you move around. Also my preferred cleaning pattern is starting in the far corner of a room and vacuum walking backward out of a room. Hence an upright lends itself well to my...

    Next Kirby?

@Oreck XL Part of the Kirby's down sizing dealers is the change in floor coverings. Many home owners have gone to hard surface floors. Thus no real need for a vacuum that can suck the dust mites out from under the sissel mats on the floors in china at the same time they are vacuuming the carpet...

    Next Kirby?

One thing you can't argue is that Kirby and Rainbow haven't compromised their principles. Neither has sold out to a conglomerate like TTI. Unlike so many other at one time popular brands. No one other than the purchaser decides what the machine is worth to them. Unlike the biggest retailer...

    Hamilton Beach Model 14

@lesinutah For some time James Kirby did design vacuums for other companies while he perfected what is now known as the Kirby Vacuum. Apex was one company he designed vacuums for and a few others. I don't remember the other ones. It is possible that this one is one of his designs or similar.
