Maytag/Riccar/Simplicity What Setting Best for Carpets

Avalir video is the worst. I commented on this as well when it first came out. I have the Avalir and am even wondering if the ratcheting lever notches are somewhat different, from the prior models? I listen for the motor change and then lower one more notch. On the Avalir their is a slight motor...

    Rainbow hepa filter question

I like my SE PE better than my E2 Black. It has much better airflow and my guess is no hepa filter. It is also easier to clean the water basin in my opinion. On my E2 I have found the same thing you did. Without it there is much better airflow. I thought the only reason Rexair put the hepa...

How do you change the headlight on a Eureka 5071D?

On the sides of your lens cap, you will see a notch on each side. Place small flat head screw driver in the notch and pry outwards. It should pop each side and then you can remove lens for easy access to the bulb. Then it just snaps back in place. PR-21 Bud

Prototype Kirbys - Did At Least One of Them Exist?

I think the last of the Ultimate G's were made with the speed selector switch, as they were getting ready to switch over. At least that is what a Kirby dealer told me at the time. PR-21 Bud

    Vacuum Shipping Help

I have had broken machines delivered, by UPS. I feel Fed Ex is better, but shipping will be costly as you need to get a larger box with tons of packing peanuts, styro foam packing pieces etc. Also place the machine inside a plastic bag before putting peanuts and packing in. I absolutely hate...

Tilt the cleaner off the rear wheels when turning the height adjustment knob. It should be very easy to move then. Sincerely, PR-21 Bud

    The end of Eureka?

I haven't been very interested in Eureka's and Hoovers plastic vacs, other than their commercial lines. Eureka's Sanitaire and Hoovers Commercial Lines still remind me of the quality vacs of years gone by......The 1934a & b are pretty good cleaners, but not as good as days gone by. The are...

    Eureka question

Kenny, The Triple Filter original Eureka outer bags do filter well. Sanitaire makes an F & G inner paper bag with better filtration, than the standard Eureka F & G paper bags as well. PR-21 Bud

    Kirby Dual Sanitronic

Kirby will rebuild your D80, however with that said, you need to ask the Rebuild dept when you call and make sure they still have the D80 Trim color, bag, etc. I had a Kirby 505 rebuilt and they did not have black trim and told me so and that it would come back in the brown trim of the D50...

    HORRIBLE Kirby Distributor Experience!

Great Guy to deal with for Kirby Supplies. He has parts that you would normally have to get directly from Kirby. When a new Kirby is released, he will start stocking supplies as soon as Kirby releases them to him. He also refurbishes a few machines for sale. PR-21 Bud

    What's Your Favorite Bag Type?

Electrolux Type C bags and Air-Way/Air-Tec Bags. Either one are very easy to change, but the Air-Way/Air-Tec bags filter the best. When I use my stock of Air-Way bags, I will cut the Sani Lid off and try Tom's suggestion so as to be able to still use the vacuum. There are generic available, but...

    Lux 7000 Help Please

Before you buy the new valve, which should fix it. There is a youtube video out that shows tricks from a repair guy. He said sometimes if you twist the control valve back and forth fast several times, it will correct itself. I did just that and mine started working again. If you can put a...

    HORRIBLE Kirby Distributor Experience!

When the G4 first came out, I had a problem with mine. It ran fine at first and then after running it for 20 minutes or so, when I shut it off, it would make a high pitched noice when winding down after using the attachments. I dealt with a very large distributor in the Cincinnati, Oh. I took it...

    Old Vac Shops

Vacuum shops have changed since the 70's and 80's. There is a vacuum store in Dayton, Oh that carried mostly Eureka's, Hoovers, Royals, and some commercial vacuums. He also had a basement full of old vacuums, to use for parts, etc. I wanted a new Eureka Vacuum that they had just came out with...

Electrolux Grand Marquis Automatic Control Selector

Thanks, I do also buy NOS genuine 4 ply bags and have Germgrabber and Surething bags that are in my machines. I gave a friend an Electrolux 2100 that I used to have. He has two kitties, one long haired and one short haired. Bags only last a few weeks, due to the amount of cat hair and kitty...

Electrolux Grand Marquis Automatic Control Selector

Thanks everyone for the replies. I actually had my Electrolux set on 4 originally and after reading these archives, changed it to 1 after your confirmation). I also recently did buy a blue Electrolux Grand Marquis, which when I got the instructions with it made me question my setting and...

Electrolux Grand Marquis Automatic Control Selector

Hi, I have went through our archives and found an extension explanation on how the automatic control works for the model lx up until the last all metal bodied Electrolux 1521's. I have a Commemorative Edition Electrolux with 4 Control settings. 1, 2 , 3 (normal) & 4. Here is what the manual...

Shark Rotator vs Kirby Gsix What went wrong?

I have always turned the one in the picture to 2 for a better brushing action up through the Gsix. With that said, the newer ones for the Sentria's and Avalir's, they have yet another stiffer brush roll with longer bristles, I put them on one as I feel setting them to the second notch is too...

Why I'm Concerned About The Future Of Kirby

Their carpet tool leaves a lot to be desired, even if only used on area rugs and under beds. Too much dead space on each side. No edge cleaning whatsoever. I bought a separate brush for hard surface floors and actually use it on my throw rugs as well. You have to learn how to use it on the throw...
