Another One Off the Wish List!

Woah thats a nice find! And with all the tools and accessories too? You definitely do not see that every day! A lot of that rust looks like its just on the surface I think if you get an SOS pad with some soap and lightly scrub it, it should come off without revealing too much of the paint...

    Patriot vacuums

I almost had one of these twice but I didn't know too much about them and didn't jump on the sale. I have a few TriStars already myself.

    Shark Professional Restoration Thread

Woah! I have this same model! I got it when Big Lots was clearing out their display models. It is a store display, never even used. It's got some discoloring on the top of the handle from being near the lights. I've been using it as a clothing rack, lol but it looks like a good model. Cute...

    Odd little bugger....

Late 1940s/ early 1950s if I remember. They came out after the war I know that much. Not entirely rare as they ran for a good many years. Never seen that one with that model of belt cover cap. I have one that has the rare upright conversion setup, its a goofy contraption and it took me about 10...

Dangerous Toxins Found In Black Plastic

The new "fear of the week". The news is paid to promote clickbait garbage to distract you from what's happening to the country. Made to install fear and panic into those easily fooled. Notice nobody is crying about the ABS plastic they have lived with for the past 40+ years. Drink your Kool...

    Is it worth it?

I believe that no vacuum should cost as much as a used car. New or antique. Didn't someone on here say before that the old school collectors had a code not to sell vacuums for so much money, or to just gift them forward and not let them become a commodity? Something like that, am I remembering...

    Personal Experiences with Vacuum Lifespans

My family's Kirby that was bought new in 2002, it's been broken down since 2014. It still runs, just got damage from being banged around a lot and accidentally dropped down the stairs. Also the fan might need a new one. A Eureka upright I got new at Walmart in 2016 lasted through 2020 when I...

Eureka Date Dial (aka Clock) Theory

The date wheels are correct within 1-2 years going either direction accounting for assembly line production time and marketing delays. In Crankman's photo the part with the 1997 photo is on the fan chamber, not the chassis. The fan chamber part was made in 1997. Since Sainitaires are...

Never thought I'd get a Bison Mark 2 vacuum.

I think it's because they found out the gear drive was too complex and costly, and it failed pretty quickly. The gear teeth did not like the resistance once the brushroll was going through thick carpet. That same problem would come back to haunt the Hoover Windtunnel V2.

Royal Dirt Devil Bagless Green Feather Lite Can Vac

Sold for $187.50. Congrats! The Royal/Dirt Devil collectors are very passionate. If it's rare, they will start a bloodbath in the bids. I personally have never seen this thing, but I have seen copycats that look nearly identical to it.

    Interesting find...

Looks like you found the website of the parent company that manufactures the vacuums that major labels will buy from and then slap their logo on it or change the colors. I'd love to buy a few of these myself just to have the first party version of a vacuum before it gets rebranded for American...

    Electrolux xxx not turning on

Seller claimed it worked and it being a nearly 100 year old vacuum do not correlate. Verify the cord is safe and has continuity. If it is the original cord good chance the wires have broken inside or it might have a dead short, would need to be analyzed. Next thing to check would be the socket...

Can you fix yellowed vacuum dust cups?

Follow the retrobrighting technique, but keep in mind it will revert back eventually. Months, years, it depends on the item.

Rainbow d4c - was loud before but got less noisy and electrical burn smell

Stored too long without running, grease hardened and gummed up, motor is overheating because its being forcefully slowed down by the sticky grease. Service motor and replace with fresh grease and oil. Shocking how little vacuum collectors know about repairing vacuums and just say "replace the...

    Hoover Savvy Diodes?

Use a multimeter and test which ones actually have gone bad and to verify the board is getting power from the line first. Once you find out which one has gone bad shouldn't be too hard to replace it, just a matter of finding a match. That gunk on the back of the board in photo 2, might be the...

    Is this fixable?

Everything is fixable to those that are not lazy. :) You likely have it stuck in the raised position. I have that same vacuum, it's the Miele Salsa, but I do not have it handy to check. It's only 10 years old. Parts are common but expensive. Cost me $90 for a new sole-plate and another $15 for...
