    Older wiring

Also forgot to mention all the junction boxes are heatproof Bakelite or solid steel as original to the house. I think there might be one plastic box in the whole house.

    Older wiring

I have a mix of 1950 wiring and 1970 wiring and a breaker panel from the mid 1970's in my 1950 G.I. bill tract house. I do not plug in or run more than what the outlet allows. Things are only on when they are being used. LED bulbs and HDTV's took a massive strain off the wiring and barely engage...

    The Physical Media Community

A lot of the old analog media communities are being infested with zoomers that have no social skills or even any intelligence on the matter and are just following it for clout and attention because someone on TikTok said you need to be doing it. So you have a flood of people that have no idea...

    Royal 501 Prince Knockoff?

I did some digging around. Not much is findable on this company as far as online records go, likely would need to do some good old fashioned book-beating gumshoe work in dusty old files and paperwork. 1.) They were located in New Rochelle, NY with company ties to Florida and Ohio. Royal...

    Westinghouse Canister Vacuum Cleaner

Yes for a spray can you did a very good job, always difficult to get a finish that looks even and well-covered. I will have to try this method when I work on getting mine restored. I always keep an eye out for vacuum parts I might need, but these Westinghouse vacuums, man it's tough. Singers too.

    Eureka Shag Groomer on eBay

Would this be for an upright? I have never seen this goofy little attachment. Reminds me of those old fashioned cheese slicers.

    Might get this for Christmas

You never know unless you try. If you really want to try it, get it. Two vacuums I will always recommend to buy, that everyone else completely s**ts on is the Eureka Brushroll Clean With SuctionSeal AS3401A (yes thats its genuine name - don't laugh) and the Bissell PowerForce Bagged 1739. Both...

    Westinghouse Canister Vacuum Cleaner

Oh wow that is a good paint job! It looks like it took well to the rubber. Did you use spray paint or brush-on?

    Display vacuums

Great find, Barry. I suspect they will be a niche rarity in the coming years and decades to people that want to collect them. Remember all those cardboard prop TV's, VCR's and videotapes that they used to stick on entertainment centers and dressers in the furniture stores back in the 90s? People...

    My Electrolux trio

Good finds! I have those same ones too! The Olympia One was my great grandma's, the LE I saved from an artist who was going to destroy in an art project, and the Epic I just found randomly at Goodwill. and the Aerus I found on shopgoodwill.com.

    New lightweight upright vacuum needed

If you enjoy Riccar and have a brand loyalty to them, I would recommend staying with Riccar. I would also suggest having an upstairs and downstairs vacuum if you can afford it. Maybe get one used for the carpet floor and one new that does hardwoods. That way you're not hurting yourself going up...

    Gotta ask before purchase......

It is a mixed bag. Ni-Cad batteries do not like to be stored without charging, they will crystallize and go bad without being maintained every couple of weeks. It could be bad right out of the box. Assume you will need the pack rebuilt with new NiCad cells or modified to lithium which may or...

    Display vacuums

Yes you just missed out. I bought all of Big Lots floor displays as they clearanced them out back in 2020. They told me when I bought them that these were the last ones they would be able to sell because the new ones are just shells, they don't even have cords. They are difficult to find, but...

    Fell off the wagon again.

I never seen that Hoover stick labeled "Encore". Mine is titled "Portapower". Yours must be pretty rare. The bag printing coming off depends on how it is applied, and how you wash it, as well as color bleeding. Have to know the right methods to wash and the right detergent to use. You have...

New Orphans Adopted by Casa Electrolux

Good finds! I always am getting vacuums and I will get them to fix up and restore to new condition and resell after making videos on them, and saving them from trash and thrift stores to do the same. Vacuums that are too unique or too rare I will keep and not get rid of and they remain in my...

What vacuums have you seen in movies?

As I come across random TV shows where vacuum cleaners appear I have been keeping notes of what they are and what show it was on, haven't gotten the list compiled yet. Recent one was on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. He used a Dyson stick to clean up feathers from pillows.

    Really??

I'm certain a lot of this is money laundering or tax fraud (claiming the unsold high priced item as a business loss and getting that money back every year). It recently came out that the people that do those graded baseball cards companies were involved in ponzi schemes and laundering money.

    Westinghouse Canister Vacuum Cleaner

Did you paint the hose or find a genuine hose? I have the Westinghouse Roll-Easy and I was debating whether to spring for a pool cleaner hose on it (only thing in roughly the same green color as the vacuum). I didn't know how well paint would stick to a generic hose, as I've seen people with...

    Over priced?

Is this not even a genuine bag to begin with? I've seen this bag on all the vacuum store rebuilds of Kirby 500 series vacuums and I just always assumed it was some generic part provided through a manufacturing company. I never knew it came from Kirby themselves. I always thought it was like -...
