Needing a new every day vacuum - Advice

I just got ... ... an Aerus Lux Guardian Platinum. LOVE it. One of the best on the market for allergy sufferers.

    Childhood vac

My childhood vac ... This isn't my pic, but the upright on the left was the exact model as Mom's. Right down to the *milk* chocolate-colored vinyl bag, as opposed to the dark chocolate colored vinyl bag that came on some models that year (1967-68 I believe), and the dark chocolate heavy rubber...

    Metal or Plastic Fan?

My two cents ... … and I'm not claiming personal experience as either a consumer or a "servicer" of metal fans, but I can tell you that not all metal is created equal. Just because it's "metal" doesn't mean it's stronger than plastic. I've had several duffel/gym bags with shoulder straps made...

Increase in Vacuums in the trash?

And ... "P.S. Forget about public transport over here. Outside the major cities it effectively does not exist." Ditto here in the U.S.

Advice needed on buying a new washer & dryer

Keep in mind ... ... that just because the washer cycles for only 20-30 minutes doesn't mean it got the clothes as clean as the Speed Queen taking 45-60 minutes. It just means the cycle ended earlier.

    Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners

Well ... "There is this notion that working a cleaning job means just randomly flicking a duster and doing a bit of vacuuming while eavesdropping on the client's conversations in the next room. If you were to go solely by what was portrayed on TV, that would indeed be true." Here in New York...

    Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners

"From where I am sat, nothing at all is wrong." If you're an IT professional and your husband owns a "successful" business, you're clearly not handling your money properly if you need to clean toilets just to clothe your children.

Wait ... "She works for 4 days out of 5 in an office doing IT management and a part time cleaner as well as an accountant for another company. Her husband has a rather successful self employed business of cleaning windows - and cleans windows using pressure washer machines with extended...

    Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners

It's a matter of economics for most of us ... It's not that we're "snobs" because we wouldn't be caught dead cleaning other people's houses. It's that our skills and labor are usually much more valuable elsewhere in the economy. I clean like no one else; I'm extremely thorough to the point...

    Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners

Jamie ... "That is something I could not do. As much as sometimes I want to just call a cleaner in and relax I couldn't let anybody else clean my house as nobody would meet my standards. My house is by no means always clean and tidy, but when I do clean I go to town with it." You are me!

Christmas Presents YOU WANT TO RECEIVE...

Dan ... … Aw. My thoughts are with you. If it's any consolation, I'm sure your mom is "with" you every day - you just don't realize it. Keep her close in your heart. The boyfriend, though -- that's another matter. I'm still looking for one myself. LOL.

    New Carpet with Vacuum Limits

I wouldn't have believed it ... ... if I didn't see it for myself. I'd been using my Fantom Thunder since Day One with my new wool rugs (which I purchased 7 years ago). The one rug is vivid orange and red, so it was really apparent seeing the carpet fibers in the Fantom's dust bin. I knew...

    Was your family thrifty?

I come from a big family ... ... Mom has TEN siblings. Grandpa was a steelworker, and later after he got black lung disease, a bus driver. For extra cash he was also the custodian for our church. On random Saturdays as a child, I thought it was a hoot to go down to the church and help him --...

    Your listening space

David ... ... am I spying a pair of Pioneer CS-99's??? I have those! They sound awesome, but alas, for the moment mine are in storage because they're beasts and I just don't have enough room in my living room for them. :( I'm instead using a smaller pair of Advents.
