Dirt Devil Broom Vac (the good one!)

Recently Acquired IOne I recently found one at a thrift store. It's the first one I have had in my collection. Always wanted one when they were new when I was a kid. They also came in a dark blue Royal Pro Series line.

    Big Vac

Thanks for the input guys! I knew nothing about this machine until this thread & some looking around on Google. I was curious about it. I don't have a use for it, but it sounds as if it would be a good machine for someone.

Must be something in the (Rainbow) water...?

Fred, thanks for sharing your teardown process photos. I always enjoy seeing the process step by step & older machines given a proper thorough cleaning. On my next teardown & rebuild, I am going to try running parts thru the dishwasher. I usually wash parts down outside or in the bath tub. Been...

    Big Vac

So this vac has been sitting in our local DAV thrift store the last couple of weeks. I have never seen or heard of the Big Vac before. I Googled it & they sell them on Amazon for $549.95. Amazon customers posted positive reviews. Any of you guys know anything about them? It has the turbo nozzle...

    some new finds.....=)

Nice Finds! Jason, thanks for sharing your fabulous finds. I like the box-top Western Auto. I know you told me about it on the phone & so it's fun to now see a pic of it. The Montgomery Ward is also a fave as I had a very similar one years back. The Pro Series broom/can vacs are something I...

    Another Convertible Rescue

John, that is a bit of fun history! I had no idea that Hoover made that many changes in one model. You are right, mine must be an '85. It has the 4-position height adjustment & bottom-fill bag. I thought it looked like it might have a type A bag when I first spied it,but it's good ol type C. I...

    Another Convertible Rescue

Found this at a rummage sale this weekend. Couldn't pass it up even though I had just acquired my Penncrest Convertible (posted in a previous thread). It was a steal at $5 & is in really good condition. Cleaned her up & put in a fresh bag & belt & she's as good as new.

    Penncrest Convertible

Gareth, I like how you think! I do need a larger place, as that is the only option I think LOL Bill, thank you & I also think it must be rare. This is the first Penncrest I have ever seen around here or in person for that matter I think.

    Penncrest Convertible

This is what followed me home today from a rummage sale. A model A131 Penncrest Convertible. I have too many vacs for my space. But I could not pass this up since I don't ever see the Penncrest version of the Convertible around. She was filthy, cleaned her up a bit, but she still has a long way...

    Used Vacs in your house?

I always take used bags out & discard outside & blow out loose crap in my trash dumpster. I like to take apart most of my vacs to the extent I can & clean & disinfect as well as possible inside & out. To me that's the fun especially finding a treaure that is really dirty & restoring it to almost...
