    my kirby vacuums

That's a nice collection Kenny! Categorized, clean, organized & easily accessible to use at a moments notice. I always appreciate seeing a well-organized collection like that. My fave is the Tradition. I absolutely love the blue color scheme of that Kirby.

    Ugly Duckling

Nice find Rob. I have always had a fondness for this machine. A friend of my grandma's had one when I was a little kid and I remember thinking how unique looking it was. What with the dual handle & push buttons. I didn't know much about them until another collector posted about his recently...

My new Kirby G4 $20.00 "Blown Motor" Special

That's a sharp looking G4!! I have one as well. I originally found mine at a yard sale for $5 & it was pretty gross too. Later found the complete set of attachments for $6. The G4 is one of my favorite colors of Kirby.

    Oreck Orbiter

I agree that Host & other "dry methods" might be ok for in between maintenance or spot cleaning. However they are not considered "deep cleaning" methods. The majority of carpet manufacturers & certification companies for carpet cleaning companies recognize extraction as a true "deep cleaning"...

    Oreck Orbiter

Having used Host & also working for a carpet cleaning company, the problem you will find with Host or any non-extraction method is re-soiling. It may look good for a while, but not stay clean for long. With those types of cleaning methods you are not really removing the dirt. Some dirt may come...

    A Pixie for a Pixie!..=)

Hey Jae, nice find there! You have had the luck the last couple of weeks finding items in the original boxes. How cool. Also, the Help-Mate tool holder is new to me. Didn't know they made them. That was a nice extra lil surprise.

    Singer Quantum 800

Guy, I used one exactly like this to vacuum a beauty shop in exchange for getting my hair permed back in the day. (I know, I know, it was the 80's & that's why I have no hair now LOL!!) Anyways, their's was identical to this and was badged as a Sharp. They originally had a Kirby Sanitronic & then...

    Amway Clear Trak

I am contemplating buying this vac. However it seems to have mixed reviews on performance. I really like the aesthetics of it. Seems very 80's to me. LOL! The seller finally got the pics to me today. It would appear to be in decent shape. The person selling it is an older lady & has multiple...

    Big Box vacuums - 80s and 90s

Cole, I know for a fact that Wal-Mart sold the Hoover Legacy upright hardbody. I bought one new in approx. 1993. They also sold the Regina brand as I bought a Regina Steemer Carpet cleaner about that same time. I also purchased the Eureka WorldVac. I had the soft bag version of it. As was...

    Vintage Central Vacuum

Since I originally posted this I have looked up pics of the B&D central vacs. They had a slanted bag door that lifted on the top. The central vac I recall in my parents friends house was an exact squarish/ rectangular shape. I have done some further research on 60's era central vacs & can't seem...

    Vintage Central Vacuum

Hans, that sounds like the one they had. I do recall that the lid lifted up to change the bag, almost reminded of a small chest freezer by the shape & size it was.

    Vintage Central Vacuum

So the pic of the day got me thinking... It shows the Preco Power Brush attachment. I recall that when I was a kid, we had friends with a central vac that used this very turbine nozzle. My question is, what brand of central vac they had. I don't recall seeing a name on it. I do recall that the...

    Singer vacuum of the Day!

Preco Power Brush Hey Rob, that attachment is the Preco Power Brush. If you search thru the forums, you will see quite a bit of discussion on this. I remember getting to use one of these as a kid. We had some friends w/ a straight suction central vac & they had one.

Must be something in the (Rainbow) water...?

Thanks again Fred for sharing all your rebuild photos & thoughts on the Rainbow. I have enjoyed reading your comments & getting to see all the great pics you have taken. It has me thinking that I might need to add a Rainbow to my collection! I have used one in the past, but have not had alot...

    Kenmore Progressive thrift store find

Nice find there Sam! I bought one of these new for my parents circa 2000-2001. The model I bought them looked just like your's except their's had the dirt finder on the power nozzle. It also had the electronic controls on the handle. I thought that the electronic control might be a weak point &...
