    Annual 'pilgrimage' coming up soon!!!!!

Fantastic pictures John! I've got to get myself up there one day for the history.

What the best/your favorite "mainstream" vaccums and brands?

Dyson I bought a referb DC-14 in 2011 and if I had to buy a brand new vaccum today I'd just buy their cheapest corded upright again. I know you're suspose to change the HEPA filter every few years but I never had, and the suction is still the same. I've even used it to suck up water before and...

    Modern Day Installed

Congrats! I've always wanted a central vac. MD used to have some great older sales tapes online I would watch all the time. There's some new home builds out where I live where I saw a DirtDevil system being installed. Thought that was an odd choice. How did you decide on the ModernDay model...

I finally found my dream machine... the Hoover Model 150

It Beats - as It Sweeps - as It Cleans! Congrats! That looks great! You probably also have one of the few remaining new Hoover brush strips available. I remember about 10 years ago calling vacuum stores about brush strips and everyone kept saying how little vintage Hoover parts were left. I...

    Any Aerus News?

I (regrettably) haven't kept up to date with the current vacuum industry recently, so perhaps I've missed something. I went to go look at the Aerus website, and I noticed their vacuum page has been completely removed. Now it's all about air purifiers. Plus, their Wikipedia page now says: "In...

    Matching Dirt Devils

Here's a schematic for the Vision: https://www.partswarehouse.com/086935-Vision-s/3555.htm Unfortunately it looks like the parts you need are out of stock. They were probably discontinued over a decade ago. Keep an eye out for donor machines at thrift stores. Enough still survive that if you...

using a transformer to use a 240 volt central vacuum on a 120 volt outlet

Probably not a good idea Check to see how much amperage you can draw on the circuit first; most are 20-30 amps. 30amps*120volts is only 3,600 watts, so 5000 will not work even if nothing else is connected to the circuit. I'm installing a NEMA-30 in my garage to charge an electric car soon...

    Bissell Owns Sanitaire Now????

I don't read about the current vac market as much as I used to, but I do know Eurkea "Electrolux" was sold off about a year ago. But today I went to the Sanitaire website, and right on the bottom it says 2019 BISSELL Inc. Have I really been gone that long haha? I thought Bissell was keeping with...

    $30 Refurb Bissells

Bissell is having a sale on refurbished PowerForces on eBay. $29.99 with free shipping. Obviously not the greatest vacuum ever but that is an incredible price. I've used a few and they've got a great brush roll and I think they only draw 7amps now. If you want one, grab it! Oreck once sold...

Carpet "Dry Cleaning" Does anyone have any experience?

It Works I've had a few Bissells and a Hoover Steamvac and dry cleaning has always worked at least as well as the wet carpet cleaners, expect for very set in stains. It's so much easer than dumping and refilling water tanks. Capture works best for low pile, Host for deeper carpets. Use lots of...

Any New Hoover Model O Discoveries?

When I first found this website I remember loving to read all about Hoover history, and the original Spangler model sounds like the absolute rarest. I know Hoover has (had?) one in North Canton, myvacsrock has one, and a former member posted in this thread of a non-Hoover label Spangler...

    Hoover Air Steerable

Keep the brushroll and filters clean and it will be a good vac. I see these at Goodwills all the time clogged with seized brushrolls, which is too bad since they're great vacuums. The ones I've fixed up have been some of the best cleaning Hoovers I've used since TTI took over. Take care of it...

What's "The Vacuum" of the 2010s?

Years from now, what vacuum model will future collectors think of when they look back on this decade? Like the '90s were certainly the Hoover Elite (and clones), and I'd probably put the Dyson DC07 at the top of the list for the 2000s. I wasn't around prior to the 90s, so of course I can't...

    Hoover Concept II Electronic

There's a Goodwill I visit that's had a Concept II Electronic for awhile. I don't have room for it myself, but I know they're pretty rare I and always feel bad leaving it there. Is there anyone here that would want it? Everything works, including the handheld vac. I wouldn't mind picking it up...

    Are Elites Valuable Now?

An Elite II just sold for $150 on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Hoover-Elite-Two-Vacuum-/283029356531?nordt=true&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l44720 I remember being able to find these for $15, and passing most of them up. I figured they were so common (aside from the...

Hoover Encore Supreme - Trying my luck

1994 NIB Video I found this video years ago from one of my favorite youtube channels. There's a shot of him moving into a new house with a box for this Hoover on the kitchen island. So glad I remembered! My link should take you straight there, but just in case, you can see it at 1:41...

    Eureka Sanitaire Model 2054A

I can't say much about that model's specifics, but it looks like a mid-tier model from the mid to late 80s. It isn't a two-speed model (some ESP versions had a switch on the handle which could boost the speed), but it does have 6 height adjustments which means it's not a base. The bag is a...

What's The Difference Between Early Riccars and Panasonics?

A lot of vintage N2000 Riccars have been popping up on eBay recently. I took a closer look at a listing tonight and noticed that model looks nearly identical to Jet Flos from the same era. Are they actually the same vacuum?

    Future VCCC convention locales

Out West? I've been wanting to go to a convention for years, but money is usually tight so I've been holding out for something closer to the west coast. Not much to see out here in Phoenix vacuum related, but maybe a convention in LA or Vegas where flights are cheaper? Or maybe Texas; that's...
