What the best/your favorite "mainstream" vaccums and brands?

Its a tie between my Aerus Guardian Platinum and my Tri-Star CS. But, I like to use the same power nozzle on both which is the Tri-Star version with a genuine Lux brush roll that came with the Lux 6000 upright retrofitted. It is the version with the lime green nylon brush strips that are...

Vacuums you find or found to be scary?

An interesting twist on this----I was never scared of my mother's vacuums which included Hoover, Electrolux and Kirby in my youth, I was scared of my mother.

    Vacuums you think look alike.

Not very sturdy, not a particularly good cleaner, awkward at best and deafeningly loud! I had a NOS one, (still in the box), about 15 years ago and parted with it shortly thereafter. Looking like a Kirby is where the comparison should stop!

It was Bison.....like what roamed the plains, part of the bovine family.

    The PERFECT Electrolux Commercial upright

Is that last post for real, or some kind of joke? I don't post here very often and have not been aware of the "politics", of this site for some time. I do know former Presidents of the VCCC are mostly thrown under the bus ie: myself, Tom Gasko, R.J. Vanik, Richard Klein, etc., for reasons...

Bissell Crosswave and wood floors question.

Mine are not true hardwood either nor are they laminate. It is a wood vinyl type flooring that does not click clack as you walk on it in any type of shoe. I should have mentioned that in my original post. So I think the ammonia is safe. My last home was all porcelin ceramic on the first...

Bissell Crosswave and wood floors question.

I just bought a Crosswave last week and used for the first time on Friday. It comes with a small bottle of cleaner provided by Bissell. Larger sizes are available. I have a lot of hardwood flooring. It did a great job and I was amazed at how dirty the return water/solution was. We vacuum...

Do you hate Hoover? This is the perfect ranting thread!

I have owned a lot of vintage Hoovers and stopped buying almost anything after the early DAMs. I had a few Celebrities along the way also. I am not very interested in any Hoover after about 1975 or thereabouts--part of that being due to my age and what I consider vintage. IMO, the pinnacle...

    Any Aerus News?

IMO, when Electrolux came out with the two motored upright they had a definite winner. It is so easy to go from carpeted floors to non-carpeted floors with decent suction. Also, it is VERY easy to use the hose and attachments. When the hoses for the uprights became electrified the vacuum was...

How much is a Kirby Factory Rebuild?

Hey Tom, Hugs back at ya! I just sent a Kirby Classic in for a rebuild. They called me as I did not send the bag and a few other pieces. I want to keep it original so I sent the nozzle bumper trim, NOS, that I found on ebay. They said they still have the correct trim color! They were going...

How much is a Kirby Factory Rebuild?

If you are the original owner and have the paperwork to show that, it should have a rebuild price on it or the Kirby rebuild department can provide it to you. If you are not the original owner the rebuild price is $350.00 not including tax and shipping. Also, Kirby does not pay the shipping...

Fred, well, the HOOVER 29 is now safely ensconced in North Carolina in pristine condition. Many thanks for the latest hand off. "AirWay Abbey", is now up and running and our Mrs. Hughes has everything under control. After a few more tweaks, the new vacuum room will be available for tours...

Performancereviews now published in the VDTA magazine

Tom, your articles are the main reason that I kept getting the magazine and belonged to the VDTA. I let my membership lapse a number of years ago but they still sent the magazine anyway. Your articles were very well written with a great use of the English language explaining the history...

What vacuums do/did your parents or grandparents use?

Paternal Grandmother had: Air-Way 66 later replaced with a Mark II 88, (later came to me), both were straight suction. She had hardwood floors with oriental rugs and was told that beater bars or a revolving brush harmed the rugs. She had in her basement a twin motored Air-Way Chief that had...

    Sebo Felix on its way!!

I bought a brand new one last year from a vac store owner on this site. I had looked at them for a while and thought it would be nice to have to add to my collection of newer cleaners. I think it was definitely a worthwhile investment. It does a great job on the wall to wall carpet and by...
