    New Arrival!

Bobby: I have used them both, but only in the vacuum room. I've used the Singer to clean up afterwards, so any dirt/grit/sand that was left behind is now in the Singer! Gotta make videos you know.... Karl: Taking apart this model was a nightmare! I'm sure I could get the Space Shuttle apart...

    New Arrival!

And Another Arrival... This one followed me home from Salvation Army. Hoover U3105 Power-Drive Concept One! It's in good condition, but had the horrendously noisy needle bearings in the motor. Tore it down, cleaned up, polished, and lubed the noisy bearings, and it's good as new! I will say...

    New Arrival!

Well I found a dream-machine on ePrey here a while back and it finally arrived today! A Royal 4650 Pony tank! I've wanted one of these since I saw it in an ad as a teenager, and now I've finally got one!

    A Eureka Followed Me Home...

I'm loving this vacuum. Even though it doesn't have any tools with it, I can rob the tools from the TriStar if I need to. Does anyone have any idea of about what year this guy is? I'm wanting to say 60's but I have no idea. It runs like new and has a 7 amp motor if that helps any. It's...

    A Eureka Followed Me Home...

Here's how it looks inside. I didn't clean it up! This is literally how it came home! It's hands-down the cleanest vacuum I have EVER found or brought home!

    A Eureka Followed Me Home...

The picture you see above is how it looked when I brought it home! All I did was dust it off with a wool duster! That's IT! Here's a picture of the cloth bag. It had a paper bag in it that had a small amount of dirt in it. The cloth bag got washed to make it smell nice and get the previous...

    A Eureka Followed Me Home...

I found this today at the Christian thrift store in town. I don't know why, but today both me and my sister decided it was a good day to go thrifting. I spied this in a back corner and just had to have it. Worth the $7.95! It came with Lux wands which is kind of annoying, but it's not that big...

Clubwide Long-Term Vacuum Test (I'm using a Singer)

How's everyone doing so far? Surviving the single vacuum restriction? I'm not doing so well......I want to use the Conquest SOOOOOOOOOOO BAD! I just have to survive 8 more days........ I just keep telling myself "One more week......you can make it!"

How to Service Bearings (Video Guide...)

How-To... I agree with the necessity of a "Maintenance Section". I have more of these I'm going to do....including how to determine if you have a bad winding or a shorted commutator. All important stuff for those of us with ancient machines with parts that are NLA!! I'm keeping the originals...

How to Service Bearings (Video Guide...)

I get asked ALL THE TIME how to service bearings and am constantly chiming in on threads both in the Vintage and Contemporary forums on proper sleeve bearing service. Well today's your lucky day! I've remade my original videos on how to service sleeve bearings, and also added a separate video...

a miele problem seeking a solution..

Are you going to start cutting a share of the profit to the people who are helping you? Part of owning and operating a vacuum-shop is having the ability to diagnose and solve problems on your customers' machines!

    greasing?

Purring like a cat... If it's purring you desire, take the lower motor bearing out and soak that sucker in solvent. Be sure to swish it around every so often to move the sludge around. You'll see a bunch of nasty black crumb looking stuff come out of the bearing. That's the old dirt and SKANKY...

    Hoover Dial A Matic

I'd have passed up the Legend II in a heartbeat. They're common as dirt! The Dial-A-Matic isn't.

    greasing?

Bearing Greasing.... It's always useful to grease old ball bearings. If they're noisy, pull them out and soak them in paint thinner overnight. The next day let them dry out for a while, then pack them with grease. Standard wheel bearing grease is fine, or if you prefer, lithium grease. If...

    ROYAL METAL MOTOR?....HELP ME PLEASE

I'm assuming since the motor was complete in the box that it's one of the TTI drop-in motors? If so it's gotta be a 9 amp+ motor. The classic Royal uprights had motors that were actually assembled into the cleaner base a lot like a pre-Generation Kirby.

    Storing re-chargeable vacuum cleaners

Charged or Discharged... It's a long-debatable question, but if you store a battery fully discharged, it tends to "sulfate" the battery plates. What this means is that the battery slowly gives up due to a chemical reaction inside the battery. If you have NiCD or NIMH batteries, it's usually...

    Kirby G Series machines

Hmmm........I do know that my G3 was rebuilt at some point in it's life, so perhaps it's a modified pan. I have to wonder if one of the reasons they blocked off some of the louvers is to keep it from blowing stuff away from the cleaner? The Generations have a nasty habit of blowing debris such...
