Rare original Kirby model 508 Suction Coupler

When Kirby introduced the all new red and gray color themed model 508 in 1948 , with a brand new “Kirby Kabinet” , they also introduced a new Suction Coupler. That suction coupler was very different to any of their previous or future models . It is larger in size and has an additional...

How to tell a Kirby model 508 bag from 509 and 510 bags ?

More 508 vs 509 As you can see from the image below the 509 vs 508 there are 2 very clear diffrences . unlike the 509 the dashed lines on the 508 go all the way to the bottom of the bag without stopping before the tube spring ,there is no space. same goes for the top ,because the opening...

    Hard to find Kirby parts

Jim Hi Jim. To make sure I’m not mistaken I checked the box of a model 505 and a 3C . The attachments in the first picture belong to a late C model like the 3C . The 2nd model is consistent with a late model 505. Of course they are still interchangeable. *Note that the gray small handle...

How to tell a Kirby model 508 bag from 509 and 510 bags ?

Well I do try to be as accurate as can be . when I decided to share my collection with everyone I knew there would be some that would disagree with me , which is perfectly fine and I welcome positive criticism. Is my website flawed ?! it’s not perfect I agree . I welcome any new...

How to tell a Kirby model 508 bag from 509 and 510 bags ?

Hi 👋 Of course my site has flaws I never said it was perfect :) In regards to the 508 , although I it was produced for one year it had many updates . I will post more pics on my site of an all original in the box in the coming weeks . As for the bag , most bags out there are from models 509...

How to tell a Kirby model 508 bag from 509 and 510 bags ?

So to answer this question I will add pictures here. The very first version of the Model 508 ( same design as with the 505 ,gray with silver and red print) had a front opening slide cuff with a button to fasten it in front . second version introduced the more familiar 509-512 gray bag but it...

    Kirby 50th anniversary ?

Les When you say 5.0 dual motor where did you find that info that has the 5.0 part on ? That would also make sense why it’s named DS50

How to tell a Kirby model 508 bag from 509 and 510 bags ?

The dye they used on those bags was somewhat defective , especially on models 509-517. Even when kept away from the light they still fade. It happens almost exclusively with the gray corduroy material . I’m sure your bags are in great shape but like all of our bags no matter how much you...

    Kirby 50th anniversary ?

Lol well I try to be as thorough as I can bc I like facts . Again I don’t think it’s a coincidence that they marked the 50th on the same year the DS50 came out .. (it also marked the Dual speed motor launch ) that said I don’t have more proof on the DS50 besides putting one and one together .

    Kirby 50th anniversary ?

Hi Jim Hi Jim , That might have had somewhat of an impact on the naming but I think the 50 is for 50 years and the 80 is for the 80!tasks that can be achieved with the Kirby system . The picture of the “ashtray” is pretty straight forward and here is a brochure for the 80 tasks for the DS80 ...

    Kirby 50th anniversary ?

Aussie-plugs I like your take on the electronic part more than mine . I feel like the 1960s was when the word “electronic” became so popular . Thanks for the insight !
