Just bought an Oreck... Information wanted!

Thanks for the further information Nar! I am really glad I bought it now (especially for £10!), despite initially thinking "oh, an Oreck..." because I had seen rather poor reviews of them on here and elsewhere. For the time being it is sitting in the living room and I am using it for the daily...

Just bought an Oreck... Information wanted!

Yes you are absolutely right Scott! Such a small and simple machine - perfect for the hotel industry they were originally designed for. I love the pocket at the back of the bag for storing extra bags and also the mold underneath for a spare belt. In fact, looking at the information plate...

Just bought an Oreck... Information wanted!

Ah, so in that case it could well be that he bought the upright at the same time as the handheld, in 1998? As I say, it is a decent vacuum and a good basic cleaner for carpets but obviously of no use for hard flooring or above floor cleaning.

Just bought an Oreck... Information wanted!

I know John, although it will be kept in a different room from the Hoovers, you have my word! No contamination will take place.

Just bought an Oreck... Information wanted!

Well, last week I saw a rather tempting advert online for an Oreck upright at £15. I got the seller down to £10 ($15) and picked it up. Not a bad cleaner, I've used it a few times now on medium and shag pile and it works well on both, although the handle becomes stiff after a while (not sure...

"<a name="start_30995.342676"></a>This doesn't mean you're "jumping the wall", does it? LOL"   Oh no John, never.  I wouldn't even peek over it...

    I own a Kirby!

Well, I never thought I'd say that! But, it was too good an opportunity to miss. I was browsing Gumtree last Tuesday and came across a Kirby Legend 2 with tools for sale for £40. I contacted the seller and got him down to £35, arranging to collect it the following day, which I did. The...

The VERY LAST MINUTE of Christmas!

I always say this and will say it again - you have a beautiful house John!! And your Christmas decorations are perfect, not a thing is out of place. A home I would be very proud of.

    How can that be?

A couple of weeks ago my old Hoover fan heater (seen and described in the thread linked below) fell whilst in use and from then on stopped working. I knew it would just be a blown fuse but only got around to replacing it today. WELL, what a strange thing I came across when I opened the plug to...

A "New to Us" Dining Table

What a beauty!  I need to restore our coffee table (it is past the point of polishing though and needs stripped) at some point, which I am looking forward to seeing the result of...  Not looking forward to actually doing the work though!

    Latest rescue - a 652A...

Thanks Emma, that would be fantastic.  I'd pay postage at least.

    Latest rescue - a 652A...

A couple of weeks ago I was browsing eBay and saw a Hoover Senior 652A looking in a very sorry state for £12 ($18US/$25CAD) which apparently had a running motor but needed a complete restoration.  Having always wanted a 652A (granted, in better condition!) I decided to save this poor Senior as...

    Christmas Dinner 2015

Oh my, that looks delicious!  You may have a guest for Christmas Dinner next year if I find myself in California   We had goose which was the first time I've ever tried that meat and it was very good.

    Politically Correct Holiday Songs

Haha!  Good Lord, I don't know what I'd do if I heard such a song in a shop.   Ridiculous.

    Any other Lumia users here?

On Wednesday I received my long awaited phone upgrade. I initially got a Nokia (now branded Microsoft) Lumia 520 in December 2013 and it was a good phone, but met a watery death a few months ago and was then replaced with a cheap £20 Lumia 610. That was a real step back as the 610 was a year...

    Bosch sent off for service

That's pretty impressive David, glad you can get it fixed albeit rather costly.  Still cheaper than a replacement!
