What happened to the UK members?

I'm still here! Although I class myself as being in Scotland rather than the UK (but that's a whole other political story we probably shouldn't get into!), I am of that region nonetheless. I first joined this forum in 2011 when I was 16 years old and didn't have a job, so I had every minute of...

Dixie Sue will leave for the Rainbow Bridge today.

I'm very sorry to hear this...  But, you had a lot longer with her than you initially expected, and that was a blessing.   May she rest in peace.

    1985 HOOVER PORTAPOWER S1126!

Well, it has been a while since I've posted a "new vacuum" thread, because it has been a long time since I've bought a new vacuum!!  Or should I say, a new vacuum that isn't a Dyson, as I have been picking a fair few of them up for the purpose of cleaning up and selling on for a profit.  Don't...

    Difficult news about Dixie Sue...

Well, that really is a "Christmas miracle"!  God willing she will continue to improve and maintain that level of health for as long as possible.   Sometimes things have to get a lot worse before they get better, and that seems to be what happened with Dixie Sue.

A few new tunes for your enjoyment...

Absolutely fantastic!  You are a great player and I'd love to see/hear more.   All the best to your Aunt, I hope she is doing well.

    DIXIE SUE TAKES A BATH

Buttons used to hate baths.  She would scratch and even bite if you put her near the bath tub, but now at 12 years of age she accepts it and takes her monthly bath quite well.    I wouldn't say she "enjoys" it by any means, but she doesn't resist it either nor does she get violent like she...

    What's your favorite car?

Yes, it was a very poor decision Peugeot made to cease operations in the States I think.  But, I never thought they were that popular there, so a lack of sales was probably the cause.  When the 405 also failed to sell they must have just thought "screw it!" and left.   By the way, what...

    What's your favorite car?

I have to say though, my "favourite" car is definitely my 1996 Peugeot 405 1.9 Turbo Diesel. My mother owned two 405s when I was a child, and I always loved them. It is getting to the stage now where the 405s are almost as rare here as they are in America, which is saying something. They were...

    What's your favorite car?

With all that talk of Mercedes, I suppose it is appropriate to post a picture of my "new ride". It's a 1996 C220 Diesel, "Classic" trim-level so not a lot in the way of extras, but the general build quality per se is luxurious enough for me. It has the automatic transmission (although the...

    Blueberry Scones, "Take Two"

Oh my! That looks delicious!! It has definitely gone straight to the top of my "things to bake" list.

Please Don't Ban Me From VacuumLand Because of What I Did.

Nothing wrong with that Rohmell! I have a couple of sweepers and they are great for quick "tidy ups".    I suffer from a bad knee which means that pushing a heavy vacuum is sometimes too painful, and also having severe migraines on a regular basis I frequently have headaches which prevent me...

In Memory of Our Sebo oracle - Narayan Kundu

Good Lord... I truly am in shock reading this. Nar and I had our disagreements in the past, and never really had any one-to-one conversations, but his posts here were invaluable and his knowledge indispensable. 42 is far too young to die, and so sudden too. It just proves that we never...

    I bought another Kirby...

Thanks Chris!  So both my Legend II and Heritage were made in the first year of production - early models.  As much as they are a bit too heavy and cumbersome for daily use in my house (or any other average British dwelling), there is no doubt that they perform better than any other cleaner.  ...

    I bought another Kirby...

Preempting an answer to my above question, I checked the serial number of the Legend and it starts with "18902", which I suspect means it was made in February of 1989?

    I bought another Kirby...

Thanks guys, would that make it older than my Legend II then?  I'm not sure if there is a way of dating that one?

    I bought another Kirby...

I know, I always said that I'd never buy a Kirby, then I bought the Legend II...  And now, I have two!   Today I saw a Heritage on Gumtree and at the price, I couldn't let it go.  So, I went on a small road-trip to collect it and here it is, my second Kirby!   I don't know if the serial...

    Shark Rocket vacuum...

Well, I decided to do it the "old fashioned way" and just wash everything in the bath tub with some warm soapy water.  It has come out clean so I'll just have to wait for it to dry (the worst bit about cleaning vacuum parts!) and can then polish it up, reassemble and decide whether the Shark...

    Shark Rocket vacuum...

You may have a point there Mike.  The previous bagless bins I have washed in the dishwasher have came out more cloudy than before, so perhaps not a good idea on one that is actually pretty clear to begin with.  Plus it has the two stickers on it which would be damaged, and if I could keep them...
