Hoover Model 102 Saved from the Junk Pile

That's a hell of a question, isn't it? I don't own anything I either don't or can't use, so I would fix it 100 percent. But, I personally will never buy anything that someone ELSE restored, no matter how nice it is. That's the part I enjoy. With me it's not the thrill of the hunt, or searching...

Hoover Model 102 Saved from the Junk Pile

You know, I remember hearing the story s of folks getting shocked removing light bulb fragments with scissors. Apparently it was commonplace to screw in appliances into light sockets before outlets became standardized. Electricity as far as household use was in its infancy, and wires were...

    CLUB ELECTRO-HYGIENE 3 Wheeler NO model #

cuffs054 There s actually a thread discussing exactly what a "crystal chamber" does. Looks like snake oil to me, but the fellers talking about it know a LOT more about it than I do. http://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?22598_16

    CLUB ELECTRO-HYGIENE 3 Wheeler NO model #

hard to tell The early machines weren't very well documented. And, when times get hard, companies use whatever they had on the shelf to build a product to sell. Having said that, I've found cobbled together parts in units that I swore had never been apart. Also, depression era people used what...

    Progress on my Universal E720

And, a picture of her sexy hind end, because, why not? These things have two brass screws you remove with wicks in them that hold oil for the bushing. I like to wash them with brakeclean, while apart and let them air dry for a few days before putting a few drops of oil on them. That's it for...

    Progress on my Universal E720

The motors on these things should zip up, and sound like any other upright, and not sound labored. The armature should spin by hand without any drag with the brushes removed. Here's a pic of the so called revolutionary cordless motor. The copper tabs on either sides by the pivots make a contact...

    Progress on my Universal E720

Here,s the motor assembly all cleaned up and lots of oxidation removed. It still needs a good polish jub, but hell, so do I.

    Progress on my Universal E720

The armature was dated 1923. Unit one had a bum armature, but the unit two armature looked like it was new after lots of cleanup. These things have zinc bushings, and they swell and seize. Trust me, no amount of oil will help it. I normally lap the bushing with some valve compound and an old...

    Progress on my Universal E720

Started work this morning on mt E720, since my parts unit came in the mail the other day. I typically don't document anything I do, but since it's a "rare" model....

    825 parts interchange

That's useful information there. It s so much easier to find parts listed for the 700 series than the 800 series. You say the furniture guard for the 825 is the same as some newer machines, how much newer do ya reckon?

    GO FIGURE

You know, these things got thrown out or buried into a attic in exchange for lighter and more trendy looking units. Then that one gets replaced, an so on. The further away one gets from the well built, aged unit that worked for years, the more we forget just how good it was. Buy quality, buy...

    Clear coating plastic parts..

As bad as clearcoat peels on plastics, I would go with something removable. Try a high carnuba content wax. If you're dead set on a clearcoat on a plastic, use the stuff formulated just for plastic. I'm not saying that others haven't got good results, it's just that I personally haven't.

    825 parts interchange

Looking upon the pics of the Hooveer 825 I have coming my way, I'm going to need a lot of parts. Do any of you fellers have a parts list or schematic for an 825? I'm kinda needing to know what parts off of other models (like a 700) will fit it.

A name by any other name

Guys, I'm afraid I'm accidently basking in someone else's hard earned glory. I haven't been a member but a month or two. When I chose a profile name, I used my first name, which happens to be Chad, not realizing there's a well known member here with a different profile name that is also a...

    H MASTER DELUXE BAG

The fleabay 825 (probably the one you saw) I have coming has that same non-original bag. It don't much matter to me, as the whole machine looks like it needs a complete rebuild. But, at least after a long deliberation, I've finally picked a Hoover model to rebuild.

    Hoover 825 handle removal

I figure it's like a 700 with a pinch bolt and a plug on the bottom of the handle, but I'm just not certain.
