Would Bad motor brushes make my tristar not come on?

Yeppers. Just like pinging a starter with a hammer that won't work. Sometimes the brushes stick, or get a bit too short.

    impact marks

Noticed that on my Hoover 825 that someone had used it as a shop vac at one time, and there are impact divots on the discharge of the housing. The impeller/fan/rotor doesn't come close to it, so I'm going to experiment and paint some rubberized coating like you use on tool handles on the...

    Help with Hoover 612

Don't know if they-re the same regarding this, but on my 825 the armature is slotted on the bottom for a flat screwdriver to hold it.

"SUPER RARE 10F1 1950'S ROYAL MINIATURE KIDS VACUUM CLEANER"

I "think" a custom die, to cast a custom casting, for a one off machine would be ridiculous and beyond the scope and what a factory worker could get away with time wise. So, your idea of a conversion would seem more correct to me. Regardless, it's a unique and ingenious piece. Also, it would...

    Rubber cable

I've seen this before with "o" rings and pinball bumpers. Heat seems to speed it along. All I can tell you is that it makes a horrid putrid mess to cleanup if you wait too long to remove it.If I was insistent upon keeping the cord, I reckon I would separate it from the machine during storage.

    Selling Most of My Collection - 1920s / 1930s / 1940s / 1950s

Ran across a feller in an antique shop that made lights out of vintage items. After speaking with him, he stated that lamps sell, but 70 year old appliances don't. While I would never purchase one of his molested items, I can appreciate an opportunity he made for himself. I've donated items to...

    Aging and our Vacuum Collections

Well After completing restoration of my Universal e720, I get reactions from indifference, to folks saying that's the most stupid waste of time they've ever seen, to folks glancing and saying something like "neat" to humor me. And, to be honest, I did it for me, not the rest of the world...

    Why Used Vacuums Won't Sell

A lot of useful items are like that. Folks that aren't collectors find a hard time getting excited about a quality vacuum that might last them the rest of their lives, but will drive a hundred miles for a beer sign that just hangs on the wall. I think it's also convenience. It's expensive to...

    Why canisters?

As far as my shop vac goes.....I don't know if the motor will power a go cart or not. I just know it has a 2'id hose, and would probably suck start a harley. I'm sure the rating probably is at the point of failure. Any idears who makes Ridgids vacuums for them?
