    The Great HEPA Debate

Since the appearance of synthetic/cloth bags, I am not that bothered by the lack of ones available for certain vacs I own. Im lucky in a way that the ones I do own can all take cloth bags i.e appear to have bags available. If someone gave me a whole box of free genuine paper dust bags for some...

Bad Combination: Small Wheels and Smooth Cords on Miele Canisters

Miele's filter design hasn't really changed from the 1990s, even perhaps late 1980s. The S500 series had the exhaust located above the motor with the bag as did the S240/S290 series.

    Cloth HEPA Bag Tests

Good tests. I have reused a SEBO Felix dust bag after brushing it clean and find it will work again. However, the bag can also be washed, dried and installed again.

    NEW Vorwerk Kobold VK200

Well I'm in Scotland, so we're remaining! As far as I know Numatic have never offered 2000 watts but I hear what you are saying.

Bad Combination: Small Wheels and Smooth Cords on Miele Canisters

Its a sound insulation pad, N0oxy. When fitted with either filter (I just checked) above the motor, no whistle is emitted when the machine powers down. When the foam pad is removed, a whistle can be heard from the filter on board. Evidently a last minute Miele design input. Vacerator - the pet...

Bad Combination: Small Wheels and Smooth Cords on Miele Canisters

Im not sure what you are referring to. The Miele dust exhaust filter is on top of the motor which sits in a housing that can be seen when you lift the bin door to gain access to the bag. In the lid itself there might be a black foam insert that sits on top of that exhaust filter - one of them...

    NEW Vorwerk Kobold VK200

I hear what you are saying, but I find bag designs are different per brand and different as per the suction airflow and general bag holder in the first place. With mine, the bags are kind of curved and tapered in the VK130/131 so the dirt tends to land at the top of the bag (bottom when it is...

Bad Combination: Small Wheels and Smooth Cords on Miele Canisters

The filter on top of the bag is the exhaust filter, it isn't on top of the bag but rather behind the bag and on the top. Not sure what you mean by a fourth filter. Could you perhaps provide a photo?

    NEW Vorwerk Kobold VK200

I adore my VK130. I love the handle adjustment and so light to use on carpets and hard floors. I also bought two PN heads because the EB350 doesn't have the pop out squeegee and additional brushes at the front. EB351 does.

    NEW Vorwerk Kobold VK200

Here is a diagram showing the motor protection filter which sits above the dust bag in the new VK200

    NEW Vorwerk Kobold VK200

Not all dirt compacts to the side in a top fill bag either and you haven’t mention the electrostatic properties that most dust bags have these days - dirt won’t fall down automatically to the bottom in a Vorwerk because the electrostatic layers in the bag prevent dirt and dust from moving that...

    NEW Vorwerk Kobold VK200

There are five suction power settings on this new Vorwerk. As you can see from the screenshot shown (and taken from the user manual) you'll see that the brush roll is one piece compared to the twin brushes on past models. The thin strip might have been done because of EU testing regulations...

    Nib haul

How unusual to see a Hoover Junior badged as a Robot upright commercial vacuum - it is roughly the same as the U.S Hoover Lark, known as Junior in Europe and UK.

    NEW Vorwerk Kobold VK200

I have no idea what Capture is but basically Kobosan powder is pretty similar to a lot of other dry cleaning powders on the market, same as SEBO's Duo P carpet powder.

ET-H power nozzle - how does the height adjuster work?

Thanks Sean. Much prefer the ET-1 to be honest. I think the ETH still sells in the U.S also possibly as a smaller central vac head.

Advice on buying a new vacuum cleaner?

Shorter hose might actually be better given that the longer hose can bounce off furniture and knock things over. End of the day its going to be a Numatic purchase but dont discount the other machines in the Numatic family so easily. Henry weighs 6.6kg when empty, Charles weighs 7.1kg when empty...

Advice on buying a new vacuum cleaner?

ALSO, check on the HEPA filter promise; to my knowledge Numatic don't have a dedicated HEPA filter, but rather multi-layered cloth filters, some of which are washable. Numatic also sell higher grade filters for other machines such as their Microtex filter or another filter called Microfresh...

Advice on buying a new vacuum cleaner?

Actually if it was me, and despite my namesake and having already read the posts and taken into the response from Chris, I would go one better and buy a Numatic Charles instead. The main reason is the much larger dust bag capacity - 15 litres dust capacity which would give you far more dust...
