I was fortunate to have found a Rainbow E2 type 12 on Craig's List. I bought it from an elderly woman whose little Rover chewed the cord almost to the body of the machine. She simply wanted to get rid the vacuum. I paid her $150.00 for it. All it needed was a new cord. Now it's in like new...

Hey Derek, Ben & Rex, Thanks for all the advise. I like the idea of keeping the belt lifter attached to the back. However trying the srewdriver idea seems like a winner for me since I still struggle with the beltlifter that came with the machine. Bottom line I don't really use the attachments...
