Hoover Portapower Commercial found...and returned to service!

Thanks for the info. I’ll try to get him an adapter. Rather than use the Hoover paper bags, I’ll probably cut the top off a Sebo fleece bag and fit that instead.

Hoover Portapower Commercial found...and returned to service!

Thanks Les! Yes, he’s very pleased with it, especially for just $8. You can’t get much better quality per dollar than this. Those pics were taken after I had spiffed it up just a bit, although it wasn’t much different when I found it. Just a bit dusty. Presumably, this can take paper bags...

Hoover Portapower Commercial found...and returned to service!

My grandfather asked me to find a vacuum suitable for cleaning his airplane, so I went to a thrift store and came back with this: a 1998 Hoover S7065-060 Commercial Portapower. Not only is it perfect for the task, but it’s very unused. I think just about everything except the crevice tool is...

    Sanitaire SC679J fan chamber depth

That makes sense. Thanks for the detailed answer!

Is the thick felt around the vacuum motor necessary?

What you have found is the sound insulation which Miele puts inside just about all of their vacuums. There is no need to remove it.

    Sebo Felix questions

Sebo make excellent vacuums. I’ve used a Felix before, but don’t have one. I sprung for the X7, which is currently my daily. I love it. Anyways, you can’t go wrong with the Felix, or the Dart, for that matter.

NIB NOS Hoover Guardsman C1631 Unboxing

Thank you both! I’m glad that Hoover decided to make this vacuum for as long as they did. I fear that the end of production for the one remaining Guardsman is just around the corner...

    Sanitaire SC679J fan chamber depth

Hi there. Quick Sanitaire question for y’all: does the SC679J have a shallower fan chamber than those on the 7 amp models? I’m 99% sure that the fan on the 679 is shallower, but I’m not sure about the chamber. Thanks.

Of course, I forgot the ‘selfie.’

    Thanksgiving day vacuuming

@panasonicvac—My grand uncle used to have a vacuum much like that one. When I was not much older than 6, I’d guess, I tripped a breaker playing with it in his basement. There was a family reunion going on upstairs, and I ‘plunged them all into darkness.’ Lol @Kloveland—Thank you! :) Regina...

    Thanksgiving day vacuuming

Glad to hear I’m not the only one. Haha. Here is my GSix. It’s no Royal or Sanitaire, but it’s not a bad vacuum either, especially after I put a new “stiff oblique” brush bar in it. I’ve always liked the “drumming” sound these rollers make.

    Thanksgiving day vacuuming

Anyways, am I the only (crazy?) one to vacuum on Thanksgiving day? I get the feeling that I’m not alone. 😅

    Thanksgiving day vacuuming

Well, I am visiting my family for Thanksgiving. That means, of course, I get to use the vacuums I left in my former bedroom’s closet! Today, I broke out my Legacy 820 and Kirby GSix 2001. I hadn’t used a Kirby since I got “burned out” on them last year. That happens after you’ve had like 10 of...

How does a Kirby not draw in moisture when in shampoo mode?

@sptyks I believe that the Kirby survived that one trial, but I wouldn’t recommend doing that on the reg. Neither the seal at the fan spacer nor the seal at the front bearing is perfectly watertight. They are both moving interfaces, after all. 🙂

    SEBO k3 🇩🇪

@vacuumdevil I like the idea of the K3. In fact, I almost bought one instead of the X7. The only thing which I don’t like about it is the “suspect” exhaust filter. It seems to be either a) not very well sealed, and/or b) not very effective. I see vacuums (below) which have staining from the...

How Often to change Hepa filters in (HEPA) bagged vacuums?

There is no need to change the filter before the particle “cake” which builds up on the media causes enough restriction to be a problem. If you have enough airflow, you’re good to go! Incidentally, I’ve never understood changing filters prematurely. It turns out that filtration efficiency goes...

Sebo X7 in the US: when?

@vacuumdevil Thank you and sorry for the delayed reply! I really love using this vacuum. For my new home, it’s perfect. I bought this having never used a Sebo X-series vacuum before, so a few things surprised me 1) The proportions of the vacuum are unlike those of most American machines. The...

One of the very few: Vorwerk 115 volt

Well, the eBay seller has messaged me to tell me that the vacuum was stolen from their van. I’ll leave it at that. Anywho, no Vorwerk for me. Oh well. This just leaves more room for a Kirby Sentria.
