    The Jubilee

Handsome . . . That's a great looking vac! Do you think this has more or less suction than your Filter Queen?

    Water Softeners and Rainbows?

If you're worried . . . Many homes with a water softener system have some non-softened taps too. Most people prefer the taste of non-softened water so there may an extra cold tap in the kitchen and also non-softened water for the icemaker. Toilets may be non-softened as well.

KSSRC is proud to present the DUO-POWER DUO!

    Great find . . . That's a nice looking vacuum!

Found my own Avacodo dream today

Nice . . . The D80 is one of my favorite Kirbys!

This looks like a Tri-Star copycat

Probably works just as well as a real Tri-Star but looks much uglier! I'd guess the same for the similar Miracle Mate vac.

    Great vacuums on eBay

I wonder what this went for, seems to have sold quickly. I tried putting leisurelady in the search box and came up with a bunch of women's clothes, and then 13" Kirby rug head and that mostly brought up comic books and games along with a few assorted Kirby bags and a brushroll for pre Classic...

A late 60s Sears Best 2 speed canister

dysonman . . . Putting that machine on display on that carpet is so perfect! I'll bet more than a few of these were brought home in the Country Squire, pulled past a kitchen of avocado major appliances and then put to work on  matching avocado carpet. And no doubt the carpet was clean in the...

    Vintage Sanitaire

The car next to the Sanitaire looks like a '64 or '65 Valiant to me. I don't think the Fury would have ever had an exposed fuel filler, it would have been under a body colored hinged panel.

A late 60s Sears Best 2 speed canister

Nice vac . . . Love the onboard tool storage and colors!

    Who uses..

Just vacuumed with the Filter Queen D-33, about all I regularly use is that or the Kirby Legend II but the latter is on loan to my parents at present. I believe the FQ is from '82 or so and the Kirby from '89, so they're not exactly old but far from new. Can't think of anything new I'd prefer!

wow my first post on VL

Beaterbar . . . Thanks for taking the time to photograph your tear down. I have an identical red two-speed that needs bearings so I've saved the photos for when I tear into mine. BTW if you didn't already know not all the two speed models were red and polished aluminum, some were red with grey...

    3 wire Tristar motor

Using a four-wire FQ motor . . . It can be done though I didn't do it. Some two-speed Filter Queens have a "performance indicator" light and that is evidently where the fourth wire goes. My two-speed D-33 does not have that feature so I assume it has a three wire motor but have never taken it...

Kenmore isms!....I decided to try to take pics

I've noticed the resemblance of the first generation Kenmore Powermate to the Interstate ABC powerhead and spent lots of time looking at photos to see the differences; it is apparent they aren't the same at all. I would so love to hear why Interstate made lots of Compacts set up for the ABC but...

Kenmore isms!....I decided to try to take pics

Gorgeous Kenmores . . . Built out of real steel before they gave up on that and went to plastic! I'm fascinated by the old first generation Power Mates, don't think I've ever even seen one in person. I sure do remember the blue and woodgrain canisters, when I was a kid I loved to wander though...

Looks like some lucky housewife had a most excellent Christmas!

Hoses . . . When I started my career as an architect most products were specified through Sweet’s Catalogue, a huge collection of books rather like an encyclopedia that contained most all equipment a building could possibly need. Now we all go to the web, but back then I remember spending lunch...

    the great Kirby debate. (again)

I have an older Riccar HP-21 upright. It was "inherited" when my family bought a house from an old man who moved into a rest home and left most of his stuff in the house. The HP-21 was  severely clogged at the brush to fan hose - it's  a clean air vac - so I unclogged it, cleaned it up and have...

Looks like some lucky housewife had a most excellent Christmas!

Thanks for posting the catalogue shots Charles! That first one with the Power Mate has got to be the ultimate Ken-Kart, at least IMO.   DT, I have an 8 foot hose on the Filter Queen and even so often wish for a 10'.

    ge swivel top canister

Congrats on this . . . GE swivel tops are soooo cool! Hopefully you got some tools too, I love the way GE used their own designs and made them instantly identifiable. Can't wait for the pics . . .

    Straight Suction Rug Tools..

Now I know the reason for the little notch in the Compact floor tool! I love the photos here, seeing the different designs up close is totally cool.

    I got a Kirby...

Congratulations on a great deal on a great vacuum. The Heritage II Legend is the penultimate pre G3 Kirby and as good a carpet machine as you'll ever find.
