    Kirby Handle Spring

I had ordered the Kirby handle spring kit . It was a bi#%& to assemble. Even watching a YouTube video did not help very much. After wasting about 3 hours; I found out that the handle yoke is too wide, and when I used the spring winder tool that I also ordered, the whole mechanism did not work...

    Kirby Handle Spring

This may seem like a silly question, but is it really possible to rent a Kirby spring wonder tool? I recently ordered a handle spring assembly for my 519 model and would like to attempt to install it my self.

    Kirby Handle Spring

I have a 519 model Kirby on which the handle spring mechanism just gave way. The handle with the added weight of the bag falls back so loosely now. Well I guess that is to be expected of a 60-year-old vacuum cleaner. Should I purchase the somewhat expensive spring winder tool , or a new...

Kirby Attachment Boxes When browsing on E-Bay; I have never seen boxes for the floor polisher from the 562 model to the D-80 . Did they even exist with these models?

    Best dusting brush attachment is...

Last year, I had an extra Kirby dusting brush(pre G series) with soft bristles. I decided to cut the bristles at an angle so the shortest are at the back of the brush and it is convenient to use for dusting high places, ceiling fans, and for thicker layers of dust. I have seen on Ebay that...

    More vacuum room pictures

Regarding the Kirby Deodorizing Kit---- Someone had recently posted on Facebook about this item stating that it was offered until production of the 561 model. My parents owned a 519 model for many years and as far back in childhood as I can remember (now age 58); I have never seen this...

    Kirby Rug Renovator problem

Another problem with the Rug Renovator Recently, I have replaced both foam rubber filters for a Classic I Rug Renovator modified for use on a H-II model. I used Kirby Rug Pre-Treatment spray before shampooing. I filled the tank with water and the specified amount of rug/upholstery...

Kirby Handi Butler - correct packaging

Vintage Handi Butler Packaging I have a certain way that I pack the one I have for a 519. I turn the plastic shield on the main unit upside down so it covers the grinding wheel edge. I place the polishing bonnet and disc along with the wheel cups on the bottom of the box for cushioning...

    More Talk About Vintage Hoses---

I don't believe anyone has ever asked this question before, but I may be the first to do so. The ends of the hose for my 519 Kirby are the problem. The end that fastens to the coupler , the metal locking nut, does not always stay fastened to the coupler no matter how well I twist it on . I...

    Kirby Rug Renovator problem

One more question about the Kirby Renovator Does the rug renovator have two filters? I know that a small foam rubber filter goes where the small hose connects, but isn't there another larger filter where the pump connects to the exhaust outlet? Thanks to Kirbysthebest and Texaskirbyguy for...

    Kirby Rug Renovator problem

One more question about the Kirby Renovator Does the Rug Renovator have two filters (one where the tank hose connects and another where the tank attaches to the exhaust outlet)? This is for an older one, not G-Series. Thanks to Kirbysthebest and Texaskirbyguy for your advice.

    Kirby Rug Renovator problem

I am using a Classic I Rug Renovator that I had modified for use with my Heritage II. Several years back, I replaced the foam rubber filter which goes in the tank hose outlet. The filter had disintegrated while the machine was running and crumbled into the tank. What could I use in a...

    Bearing Lubrication

Is WD-40 White Lithium Grease spray the proper one to use to lube dry bearings in older Kirbys? How much needs to be used? Should I attempt to do this myself?

    Kirby as air purifier

I recall reading a post several years ago that stated some late 500-series Kirbys put to use as air purification unit (FLOOR PORTABLE MODE) __sans the hose. It would be placed in a bedroom with the window open with screen, and the door closed and ran for 15 or 20 minitues.

    Blue Kirby 519?

Blue Trimmed 519 model Kirby This model was manufactured in 1959-60 with cherry red trim, gray wheels and cord and a bluish-gray bag with white specks and a distinctive silkscreen logo in red and silver. This most likely is a rebuild from 1979 or sometime in the 80's. The Tradition...

    Kirby 500 series questions

Another Alternative is to construct the use of an object to activate the safety switch on the 560 model . Perhaps a rubber eraser for pencils held in place with electrical tape on the center of the bottom of the round opening in back of the nozzle should do the trick.

    Attachment Slippage from Hose

Any suggestions on what to do about a metal hose end of a 519 model Kirby that the attachments do not stay on very well. They always slip off of the metal swivel tube end of the hose. Should it just be replaced, or is there any other remedies to prevent slippage.
