Having worked in an Oreck store, and strongly considered OWNING an Oreck store, those are some pretty strong words there. They're one of the few makes that still have a dealership! We're not here to "bash" brands. I too lament that some Orecks are now being made in China....

I would say try rubbing alcohol first. Nail polish remover might be a bit too caustic. I've used rubbing alcohol for years to remove paint scratches from plastic vacuum housings. - Karl

Well, it doesn't look as heavy-duty as the DutchTech, but then again, it's no where near the price. I just wonder if they're as much of a nightmare to service. Lots of little parts made the DutchTech a pain! I recall selling maybe a handful of DutchTechs, they're not really what Oreck is...

Not to mention the fact.... That some U.K. models of the junior had a headlight. Something that ours in the states never had. Why were they more popular on "the other side of the pond?" It's a great little vacuum to clean smaller areas. - Karl

Actually.... The first DAM with power drive was the model 1170 from 1969. It had the same color front panel only without the headlight. - Karl
