Is it safe to put this in a vacuum bag?

Yeah, it's one of those things I definitely wouldn't recommend - just like using those drop-in toilet bowl cleaners, especially the bleach ones. You might try placing a fabric softener sheet inside the outer bag. I've seen plenty of Orecks with a dryer sheet inside, and the customers would say...

    Eureka 2015

Eureka 2015 Nice machine! So was this Eureka's economy model at the time? - Karl

    HooVax QuickLite, salvaged...

this could be an interesting challenge for sure... :P I wish you the best of luck in restoring the machine. But would it be worthwhile economically? I know sometimes those filters cost almost as much as the machine itself, which is why most people just let the filters clog and keep using the...

    New Oreck Quest Pro

Bet the Dutch made "DutchTech" canister was a better But an absolute nightmare to work on! I remember the service tech in the Oreck training video was sweating and stuttering as he was taking the cleaner apart. I was more confused after watching the video than I was before. Well made, yes...

    New Oreck Quest Pro

What does it matter that Target sells them? It matters a great deal to the Oreck stores who (except for mail order and QVC) had exclusive rights to sell them up until this point! They'll have to work much harder now servicing the machines that are already out there, and trying to squeeze...

    New Oreck Quest Pro

Oreck stores to carry other brands (that don't break as I'll have you know that Oreck is one of the simplest machines in the vacuum cleaner industry to work on. If you can't, you have no business owning a vac store. The reason they break as often as they do is because incompetent owners use...

    New Oreck Quest Pro

Having worked in an Oreck store, and strongly considered OWNING an Oreck store, those are some pretty strong words there. They're one of the few makes that still have a dealership! We're not here to "bash" brands. I too lament that some Orecks are now being made in China....

How to remove screen print from generic bags?

I would say try rubbing alcohol first. Nail polish remover might be a bit too caustic. I've used rubbing alcohol for years to remove paint scratches from plastic vacuum housings. - Karl

    New Oreck Quest Pro

Well, it doesn't look as heavy-duty as the DutchTech, but then again, it's no where near the price. I just wonder if they're as much of a nightmare to service. Lots of little parts made the DutchTech a pain! I recall selling maybe a handful of DutchTechs, they're not really what Oreck is...

    The Ultimate Elite!

My personal favorite is.... The 80th Anniversary Elite from 1988. I've never seen one up close, but I'd sure give my right eye for one.... - Karl

    The 1954 Kirby "Movie Star"

Early on in the film "Burnt Offerings" we see Karen Black vacuuming the steps of her new house with a pre-516 Kirby. I recall it being beautifully polished. The film is from 1976, I thought they would have used a Classic Omega, or the then-new Classic III! - Karl

    The 1954 Kirby "Movie Star"

Remember "Mr. Mom" - wasn't that a Kirby that th Yes, but that was a Classic 1CR. They altered the machine just enough so that they wouldn't be sued by Kirby, but the machine itself is unmistakeable. It had a beefier motor cover, cyclops headlight, and T-bar handle. For the vacuum cleaner...

    have some SPIRIT!......

Hoover Spirit While not the most "aesthetically pleasing" canister Hoover ever turned out, they are real workhorses and (like everything else) are getting older. Yours is in beautiful shape, and I LOVE the matching Elite. Was that a Kmart exclusive model? - Karl

What is your favorite Rainbow copy?

I have a green Shark CW 240 water filtration vacuum that I've used maybe a handful of times in the last 7 years. They were all over eBay for maybe a year or two and then vanished. It actually has very good suction. I just used the turbo tool on my Electrolux Epic. IMHO, it's more of pain to...

    Regina Brush N Beat Ad

I was just wondering if anybody else saw this on eBay. It's from 1965, which I guess was when the Brush & Beat debuted. If that's true, Oreck beat them to the punch. Has anybody seen a Brush N Beat for sale on eBay? Also, when were they last manufactured? I know later models had a headlight...

Which cleans better Sentria or Heritage 2?

I would say the Heritage II, IF you use the "granny head." I've never owned one, but I'm sure it really concentrates the suction.... - Karl

    Kirby Model C bag question

"I wanted to put one of the originals on it" Where does one find an original? They're as rare as hen's teeth. I do hope at some point somebody can fabricate the red & gold logo for the new black Kirby bags. - Karl

    the great ESTATE.....

Not to mention the fact.... That some U.K. models of the junior had a headlight. Something that ours in the states never had. Why were they more popular on "the other side of the pond?" It's a great little vacuum to clean smaller areas. - Karl

    Found a Dial-a-Matic yesterday

Actually.... The first DAM with power drive was the model 1170 from 1969. It had the same color front panel only without the headlight. - Karl
