    Strange Combination

I think that a lot of this may be the result of Dave Oreck selling the company out to a financial investment group some years ago. He no longer has control or any say in the companies operation. Like the Colonel at KFC did he's paid by Oreck to promote their products and be the face of Oreck...

    Strange Combination

It sounds to me like Oreck has gotten a little bit more lax on their exclusivity. Or could it be that Oreck struck a cross selling deal with Miele to sell their vacs too? But the Simplicity shop wouldn't be included in that. There certainly are many more Oreck stores than Miele stores, at...

    Strange Combination

We had a new vacuum store open near my house recently. It's an Oreck/Miele dealershuip. I have never seen Oreck stores selling anything buy Oreck before. When you walk in the left side of the shop is Oreck products and the right side is where the Miele stuff is. It seems to be a full line store...

    HOOVER Bicentennial

Sometimes people cut the cord on discarded electronics for two main reasons: The first being a liability issue. They think that if someone gets hurt using the appliance (whatever kind it is) they could get sued. Secondly they just don't want somebody using something they have discarded...

    Rinsing a Dyson Shroud

Whenever I go to out Miele vac dealer (he also carries other brands such as Riccar, Bosch & Panasonic) there is always a bunch of Dyson machines awaiting repair. The repair guy said that the owners never change the filters or clean the machines and that's all they need to get back on the road...

    Boomerang Hoover Windtunnel

When it comes to the way people use their appliances and vacuum cleaners sometimes it makes me wonder about people in general sometimes. I know a woman who had a new Simplicity canister vac. A month after she bought it she wanted to return it because it no longer worked properly. I told her...

    Sunbeam Vacuums: Anybody Farmiliar?

FWIW back in the 70's I had a avocado green Sunbeam canister vac. The canister was all metal and king of a flat round circle shape. Didn't have a powerhead, just a floor brush, crevice tool and a upholstery tool. It did fine on the thin carpet I had in my college apartment.

200 Canister Vacuums,100 Uprights at Auction today!

I am surprised they didn't lot them out. I've been to bank auctions where I saw a nice computer I was going to bid on. When the auctioneer got to them I heard "Now what is my opening bid for 50 of these XXX brand computers..."Then it moved to a lot of 200 Calculators, etc. What the heck am I...

    Who likes Rainbows?

The carpet in our house is a deep pile. And we have a lot of tile too. Our Miele seems to handle this well. Our Rainbow didn't really clog up (the separator never got dirty) but the dog hair and other stuff turned the water to mud in no time. That's what I meant by clogging up. I'll look out...

    Who likes Rainbows?

I looked at the Rainbowsystem website. The new machines sure have been updated, haven't they? My aunt has a D2 (the chrome dome) that she has had since the 70's. Compare the new ones to THAT! I like the way they look. The powerhead looks much sturdier than the one I have. I like the LED...

    Who likes Rainbows?

Sorry guys, I looked at our Rainbow again and it's a Rainbow SE machine. I looked at a photo of an E2 and that's definitely not what we have. Yes, the power nozzle could be better. When you push it forward it flip flops side to side a little. Could a new power head be used on a SE? Maybe that...

    Miele S314 Leaking Dust

Ok guys, and Miele dealers listen up! I received the new AirClean FJM bags and charcoal HEPA filter from Miele(gratis, now THAT is customer service especially with a 6 year old vac.). They solved the problem and the vac is now much stronger than it had been. I guess I didn't notice the loss...

    Who likes Rainbows?

We have a Rainbow E2 we bought on Ebay years ago. I don't like the powerhead either, it seems to be too flexible in it's movement. We have 4 large dogs and we find that even if we vacuumed three times a week the water reservoir clogs up in a very short time. Plus the suction is not all that...

    Miele S6

Looks like they are moving away from electronic suction control to manually selected suction control.

    Robotic vacuums??????????

When my sister bought her new house about 6 years ago my brother gave her a Rumba. She promptly gave her Kirby away and said "This is all I'll never need." So for the past 6 years all the carpet in her house (and there is a lot) has only been Rumba'ed. Could you imagine going over it now with...

Help me chose a new vac!

I'm another Miele guy. We've had ours about 7 years and it's great. It is so quiet you can actually hear the dust & dirt coming up the tube. I went with a neighbor about a year ago to look at vacuums. We went to a Simplicity dealer. The guy seemed nice. He also had several old beat up Mieles...

    Miele S314 Leaking Dust

Yes, I noticed a few generic FJM bags have this seal also. My Miele dealer suggested using the GN bags on my vac because it still has that seal. Which is another option for me. What's funny is about the time that Miele came out with the FJM bags without a seal the boxes were marked "New...

    Miele S314 Leaking Dust

I've had two S300 series models with the HyClean bags fitted without a problem, but I wonder if the bag design had changed since I bought some. Yes, I was using the HyClean bags for years without a problem but sometime this spring Miele redesigned the FJM Hyclean bag. The collar on the bag...

    Miele S314 Leaking Dust

Has anyone seen the new AirClean Miele bags at their Miele dealers yet? I went to several and all they stock are the HyClean bags.
