My birthday gift from me to me!

I just looked at VCDiscounter - I can't believe the price for that machine! It looks like a steal! I'm gonna have to get one of these for Christmas or something.

My birthday gift from me to me!

Happy Birthday! I got the C1631 Guardsman one year for Christmas, I love the sound and the Decade 80 shell. I'm jealous of the red bag and headlight on yours! Where did you order it from?

I've had my fill of the Eureka The Boss Smartvac

I have two 4870's, one in Teal and one in red that looks exactly as the OP's two. Bought the Teal one, then bought the Red one later on and put the Teal one on rug duties at my mom's shop. (you wouldn't believe what's in those rugs) About a year in the height adjuster plate on the bottom...

    New affordable upright?

I still suggest a shopvac, but two for each level. there cheap enough that it won't be too expensive. That is seriously the only thing I can think of that would hold up to that kinda abuse.

    New affordable upright?

    I suggest a full size wet/dry Shopvac.

Plastivac alert! ( a public service announcement)

I thought everybody was having a nice civilized conversation about the downsides and issues with the Dyson machines. I didn't see anything become heated or anyone breaking out in argument. To me I just thought everyone was stating there opinions of a machine and stating why there opinion is...

    My Most Recent Finds

Don't be alarmed if you see someone jumping out the window and running off into the night, with your decade 80 in hand... It looks pristine from here. I've been wanting one of those for some time.

    My Awesome Find

I took it over to my grandma's house to give it a good workout and see how it holds up vacuuming a whole house full of carpet (we have barely any carpet in our own house) in order to keep it from making that noise I had to pace myself fairly slow, if I let the vacuum take off it starts making...

    My Awesome Find

    My Awesome Find

Fred It only makes that noise if I run full speed across the carpet, if I keep it slow it stays quiet. I can't really complain too much though, i got the machine for 5 dollars. and if this transmission craps out completely I'll just do what you said and find a donor machine. I already had the...

    My Awesome Find

Nice to see your list of the Concept models, and perfect timing to post it with my having just gotten one and digging for every bit of info I can get. I guess my vacuum could be anywhere from 25-32 years old huh. The more I play with and test my Concept the more I fall in love with it. I...

    My Awesome Find

Transmission Can anyone tell me how the transmission's in these Concept One's are for reliability? Mine seems to have developed this very annoying racket when you make a quick pass, in forward and reverse, even when you push it fast across with the drive release button held down (no...

    My Awesome Find

Thanks Fred After I took the photo's I disassembled the machine to maybe find a clump of dirt or something that could have been the cause to it smelling "old" when I ran it, but to my surprise everything inside the motor housing was SPOTLESS. I even checked the carbon brushes and they looked...

    My Awesome Find

Haha, I have no clue as to it's age. I think the Concept One was introduced in 1979(???) My suspection is this could be an earlier model, judging from the little design emblem in the center, and maybe the fact that it has a shag setting??? Hopefully someone that knows these machines can step in...

    My Awesome Find

I spent my afternoon with a friend going to a couple resale shops in town. We ended up at this place called Tom's Treasure Chest and he has a pretty large warehouse in back and that's where I found my latest (old) toy. A Hoover Concept One. Powerdrive model. It was covered in some filth, tested...

Ive been thinking about getting a used oreck.

I think a brand new base model Oreck should be sold for no more then 99 dollars, not the 299 dollar price tag I saw on one at a local hardware store this afternoon. Or even 199 for the base model XL listed on there website. I won't even consider buying one brand new at the prices they charge for...
