    VGI vs. VGII

Unscientific Findings Well, below are the findings of my unscientific test. In this test, I would say the VGII won. It's difficult to tell from the photo, but the VGII picked up more hair, dirt, and grit. I used both brush rolls in identical Tristar design (Eureka built) power nozzles attached...

What is your favorite older Electrolux

L My favorite is early the Model L with aqua blue trim and cord winder. It sort of reminds me of an older Pontiac, while the Model G of that vintage looks more like an upscale Buick! LOL! But I just like the sound of the L -- it has presence.

    Electrolux Versatility

No Consumer Reports Testing Thus far, CR hasn't tested this vacuum. Just looking at the maintenance required (from the pdf you've posted), it seems that everyone of my bagged vacuums is far more maintenance friendly/free. But maybe I'm just lazy!

Trish got me a nice Maytag Legecy canister vacuum

Maytag badge The Hoover Duros is still available, but the model with the Maytag badge didn't have a long run -- I'm guessing. That's why I'm thinking that that particular one with the Maytag badge would be rare. But I'm only guessing.

Trish got me a nice Maytag Legecy canister vacuum

Very Cool! I've seen those around occasionally. Is the Maytag name on Hoover machines pretty rare? It had to have been a pretty limited run.

    Terry ....Wesinghouse upright

Question On some of the older machines for which parts and supplies are non-existent (or very difficult to obtain), do you collect them mainly for their historic/collectible value? I know that sounds dumb? I guess my question is -- do some people collect vacuums even though they may not be...

    HOOVERS-less popular...

Oh yes! Forgot about the infamous Type C bag system!!! When did Hoover switch to the Type A bag design?

    HOOVERS-less popular...

Convertible I think the Convertible was a good machine. To me, the only down side was that they tended to leak dust where the bag assembly connects to the machine. They could have used some type of gasket rather than a bead of silicone.

    VGI vs. VGII

Well, I just finished my first test week, comparing the VGI and VGII brushrolls. I'm using them in an Air Storm with a Tristar Nozzle setup. With each brushroll, the brush strips are almost brand new. This past week, I vacuumed with the VGII. Throughout the week, it never "felt" as aggressive as...

    dyson question

That's what I like about British designs that I seen on here. They're very streamlined and sleek. Many American designed machines (Bissell, Hoover, etc.) can be very clunky looking, especially the way the hose and attachments are incorporated. I'm assuming they are designed in the U. S. At...

    Dyson DC17AR Impressions and Review

It does vibrate I have a Hoover Celebrity with the Qudraflex PN. It definitely vibrates the carpet, so I guess the brush stiffeners help in that regard. I've always wondered what the "quadraflex" designation is intended to convey. I'm guessing -- beating action, sweeping, action, airflow, and...

Clubwide Long-Term Vacuum Test (I'm using a Singer)

VGI vs. VGII I've heard that the VGI design helps to produce better airflow, but I certainly can't verify that. I do have an Air Storm vacuum that I put a Tristar power nozzle on. That PN does have the VGII brushroll that I took from an old Eureka PN. I recently put new brush strips in it so...
