The first Power Nozzles - History, Queries and Suppositions.

Not exactly about a power nozzle, but part of the system: did any manufacturer ever make or offer an electric hose that fully swiveled on both ends? Have never seen or even heard of such a creature.

Question How often do you rotate the vacs? Daily? Weekly?

    Electrolux 1453

I have some old 50 series cords coiled in a circle and tied with garbage bag twist ties, laid flat in a drawer. The upright I have suffers from sharp bends in the cord where it winds around the top and bottom of the handle. This is why God, or possibly Professor Doctor Electrolux, gave us the...

    my 3 electrolux vacuums

Be careful! 3 has a way of turning into 30, or, in some cases, 300... >< I like that collection. The blue Ambassador III is the very one a great aunt had, and I always thought it looked a bit nicer than the gray body/blue top versions.

    Electrolux 1453

This is all I've done with mine so far. Very untidy for an Electrolux, but nothing's perfect :) At least it has that rubber strap on the plug end to keep it together. Looking forward to seeing pictures of the silver 1453.

    Electrolux 1453

Weight That's really the only serious "problem" I have with a lot of the American models; the weight. The Canadian contemporaries are noticeably lighter, even the metal ones, with the notable exception of the Model E. I was just thinking of the various machines I've gotten since Christmas...

    Electrolux 1453

I'd like to see some pictures of the silver 1453; I believe there's a thread about it in the archives somewhere. As far as cord winders go, if a machine doesn't have one, I'd prefer the cord to detach from the machine completely, like the XXX etc, so you can put the cord away somewhere. With...

    Electrolux 1453

Body Talk The main case, rear wheels, and front caster assembly appear to be identical with the Olympia, or at least with the Golden Jubilee/Super J, and I assume the Olympia is the same as those. The front cover and top "deck" are of course different. Speaking of that hose, was just...

    Electrolux 1453

Elegance Agreed completely. I have a Model E and even though it has no flourishes whatsoever, there's something I like about it, just like this 1453...almost like "the little vacuum that could", or something like that. The contemporary Canadian BOL models didn't look that different from the...

    Electrolux Upright Attachment Kit

Unscientific Opinion All of the canisters I have, plus a PN, do a better job on carpet than the upright. I know there are a lot of variables at play, but the eyes (usually) don't lie.

    Electrolux 1453

This one doesn't have an electric hose and PN, but the contacts are there in the hose connector. Once its cleaned up, this will mostly see bare floor and dusting duty, and I'm sure it has more than enough power to do that. To tell the truth, even though the automatic shutoff is a defining...

    Electrolux Upright Attachment Kit

It's against all my principles as a canister man to use an upright for anything but carpet, but... >< We'll see how it goes.

    Electrolux 1453

Heard but never tried... Likewise. I may have seen a few posts on this forum about it, but this is my first time seeing one. I think the old boy will look pretty good once shined up.

    Electrolux Upright Attachment Kit

Along with the 1453 I got (posted in Vintage forum), the seller included an upright attachment kit, in the original cardboard box. Used vacuums often come with strange and unexpected extras.

    Electrolux 1453

No idea if this should be in Contemporary or not, but here's an Electrolux 1453 I picked up today, in pretty good shape, with the original hose, wands, and combo floor/rug nozzle. This is a cute little machine, and appears to work well. Other than that, I'll admit I know nothing about it. I'm...

    Calling all Electrolux experts!

I never thought of the Sidekick; I just tried it on the brand x hose and it fit properly. That's one of the things to consider; every hose seems to have a slightly different fit into the wands and/or attachments. Some fit snugly, and others loosely. Not sure where you'll be getting your hose...

    Calling all Electrolux experts!

I know nothing about most Electrolux cord winders; I hope its not like the older ones with the ball bearings and high tension spring (SPROING!!!!) Another point about the hose I forgot; the one in my picture above has the Canadian or 2100/Diplomat/etc style machine connector, not the American...

    Calling all Electrolux experts!

Either one would work fine. Some of those brand x electric hoses have the chunky collar at both ends, neither end swivels, and the handle is only a "semi-pistol" shape, but they do have the PN on/off switch and sliding suction reducer. The genuine Electrolux hose swivels, but has no on/off...

    Fortuitous Find Fabricates Functionality

I may have some red attachments; I'll have to dig through my boxes. You'll have to give me a buzz when you come to town.

    Fortuitous Find Fabricates Functionality

The 88, especially the 2nd version, is by far my favorite Electrolux, and with this new hose it'll suck as good as new. What happened to your 88?
