First Ever Vacuum Disassembly/Repair/Etc.

To many of you, this might be very ho-hum, but this is the first time I've ever dared to dismantle a vacuum and see what was going on inside. I was using the Ambassador II yesterday, and suddenly decided, come what might of it, to...

    Canadian Electrolux 86

I have a soft spot for the 86 2nd version; it was the first Electrolux I ever saw. My grandparents had two of them, and I loved them to death. The automatic cord winder was optional on those machines, although I don't recall...

    I just got 2 late 70's vacuums

Kirbyvertibles: Yes indeed, the 80 series and the AP series are a shining moment for Electrolux. I use that Trivac now and again for a quick pick-up, and as long as the fan and fill tube are clean, they seem to work well for...

    I just got 2 late 70's vacuums

1st Trivac? Not sure about the States and whether the Trivac models were different, but see the picture for what I believe is the first Trivac (at least in Canada), to match the contemporaneous model AP 200 (produced 1977-79-ish)...

    Globaltek Renaissance

Hey Markus: Great video! You have quite an interesting collection there. I like the looks of that floor nozzle; North American Electrolux never had...

    Globaltek Renaissance

Was quite curious about this machine, and did some googling. They also have a Guardian, Genesis LXE, and Floor Pro. Very interesting. http://globaltek.cl/index.html

    Globaltek Renaissance

Wow Now that is cool. I had no idea the Renaissance was ever branded as anything other than Electrolux. It looks the same in every way.

Great debate: Lux metal vs. plastic-bodied models as users?

Good question. I have old and new models in my collection, and rotate them all for cleaning duty. Emotionally, I'm connected to the older metal-bodied machines, because I grew up with them, but I do like using the newer ones as well...

    A Treasure From My Childhood- - - - - - - -

Multiple PN plugs That explanation sounds rational. The bottom side mount plug is a bit of a pain; you need to tip the machine on its side to make sure the plug is fully inserted. The 80 series handle-integrated plug seems to be...

    A Treasure From My Childhood- - - - - - - -

That's a wonderful find, in excellent condition, and ready for 40+ more years of service, no doubt. Interesting to see another Model G with 2...

    Golden J Resto Done!!!

Very, very nice job. I have one, but yours puts mine to shame. They're great machines, too: quiet, good performers, albeit a little heavy and on the gaudy side, but still quite good.

Question about the electrolux model 2100

"Cheapo" Floor Brush I actually kind of like the "cheapo" dedicated floor brush. It seems to have good airflow right around the whole nozzle, and its lighter weight than the combo nozzle.

Question about the electrolux model 2100

There were two; the one above is the "Hi-Tech" from the 80's; the 2nd one was sometime in the 2000's, I believe, and was a much darker color. If you want to get really technical, the dark red "Special Edition" is also a model 2100...

There was a PN III, but only in Canada.

    Electrolux Canister w/Power Nozzle

Lux Classic It's great how a basic design has survived for so long with so few changes, even going back to the '50's with the bags and attachments. I wonder if they still make the early version of the Sidekick as an optional...

    Best Decade for Vacuums

Re: Electrolux hoses On rare occasions, I'll bust out an old, still somewhat usable woven hose, just to transport myself back to the 60's, but for practical, everyday cleaning, they're unsuitable, especially the electric ones...

    Best Decade for Vacuums

I'm strictly an Electrolux man, so I can only comment on those. Since the basic design of "Electroli" has never changed that much, its hard to pin down a "best decade". My personal favorite period is that of the 80 series and...
