    The Homely Lux Model T

I'm in the "T" Club I've got a Model T, although its not in as good of shape as the one above. It came with the cloth LX hose which was kinda rough and frayed. I still have the hose, but its not displayed with the vacuum. It could have been the original. I found this T at a flea market and the...

    Engagement of Hoover and Electrolux

We'll make it work.... Yes, I can make up a nice Lux/Hoover crossover hose. Its amazing what you can do with a roll of bulk vinyl hose, hose cuffs and the correct hose ends. Add a splash of Plummers Goop adhesive and You'll be Hoovering with that Lux soon, Tom. Joe

The Box............. It would have come in a box like this. That's the original hose too. The tools are in the box for this picture. This was my Grandma's vacuum bought new in the early 50's. Joe

Todays find: A Royal pot canister

Hose Release Pete, If you mean the tab next to the blower port, that is to secure/release the hose when inserted into the blower port. At least that's how mine is. There is a release tab in the suction port as well, but it looks a little bit different than the blower one. Mine needs a bag...

poor old constellation destroyed by stupid guys

I agree I agree with Rocketwarrior. As a kid I destroyed alot of things that were junk at the time and maybe could have been saved. But if we saved everything, what would be worth collecting? I wish I had my first car back I sent of to the crusher, the Hoover Portable that I grew up with, Tonka...

Bags........... Pete, You can use GE Swivel Top bags. They'll stick out the side of the cover a bit, but work well. The bags for these cleaners are discontinued. Maybe someone has extra originals, but for everyday use, the GE bags are fine. Joe

The North Canton Vac In 2007

Back In New York..... Well, all good things have to end and I'm now back in Western NY and its snowing! Yuck!! I has a great time at Tom's. He and his wife were very good hosts. I had a blast vacuuming along side his 2 year old son, Glenn. It was great to finally meet Norm, Corey and Jimmy. It...

say it isn't so! Dirt Devil Parent Company/Kenmore

I'm just guessing.......... Maybe the new Hoover Constellation was made by TTI. After all it is made in China. Just a guess. It maybe was a trial or the way the deal with Whirlpool started. TTI does make the classic Royal upright, why not other vintage styles as well. I'm with you...

say it isn't so! Dirt Devil Parent Company/Kenmore

Not to mention........ TTI owning Milwaukee and Homelite. American Icons too. I'm not too happy about this either. I have always recommended Kenmores to people looking for a moderately priced, quality vacuum. No more. I've got to start looking for another brand of vacuum to recommend now...

    some shots from my collection

Wow! I like those hard cased juniors! Are they just hard bodied versions of the soft bagged Junior? Or a completely different machine? I also like the cylinders too. I'd like to get one someday. Great collection! Thanks for sharing. Joe

What I used to vacuum my house tonight...

The Best Power Nozzle......... I have to say that these have the best power nozzles I've ever used. It grooms the rug well and seems pretty durable. The machine itself is so so. By that I mean the bags are not really easy to install. You have to think a bit and bend the cardboard collar just...

    A Note From The Webmaster

Thanks Fred.... While I'm not a member of the club yet, I greatly appreciate the open forum. This has helped me make my decision to join. An open forum is a "window" into the club. I can meet the members, get a feeling of how well I'll fit in and hopefully meet some long term friends here. I...

    The New Constellation. Taken Apart!

You Might have to........ Cut a hole in the shroud. The entire base on the old ones was pressurized with the exhaust. The new ones have it ducted with the shroud. A 2 1/2 inch "mouse hole" in the shrould might get the exhaust out of an old one. It would be interesting to try it. Joe

    Handy Way

Parts is parts....... I've parted out many vintage vacs. I have literally a vacuum bone yard in the old hayloft in my barn. 600+ machines and that's being conservative. I regulary take switches, handles and other various parts off of these to help myself and others complete a better machine for...

    The New Constellation. Taken Apart!

Motors Fred, Do you think an old motor would still fit? I'm thinking that the shroud is taking up the extra space the old motor had used. If the original tooling was used to make the sheetmetal, its a good possibility old parts would fit. And if the old parts fit, could a new motor and...

    A nice Guardsman and Others

Maybe its a vac shop job That's probably why the F&G bag was in there. Maybe a vac shop switched the machine to "C" bags, (cheaper bags than the "A"s) they exploded and the customer was told to use F&G's. I have "A" bag tubes to convert it back. When I go thru it for restoration, that's what...

C bags This machine is set up for "C" bags. If its supposed to be "A", then someone modified it. If they never had the "C" bags, then I'll have to put it back to using "A" bags. Tom had mentioned that "C" bags were used. Maybe over time in the run things were changed over to using "A". I'll...

    A nice Guardsman and Others

Yes it is....... Jeff, yes its a U4313. Two speed motor with the speed switch in the handle bail. It will clean up nice. Of course someone put a Eureka F&G bag in it and it was plugged all the way to the fan. Quite a mess. I cleaned that out and its breathing well now. As far as dealer...

    A nice Guardsman and Others

Traded Guardsman..... Seamus, I'm thinking it was traded on a new Sentria. I never discussed that, I just took it and went....The tag is dated August '06 so that's how I figured a Sentria. On a side note the Kirby guy tried to get me to take an 8 month old Dyson Animal that was traded on a new...

Electrical Tape..... Is what's on the DAM's handle. The usual cord being pulled from the handle and taped back. Sometimes an easy fix, otherwise a new cord is needed. Nothing is for sale yet. Joe
