Mini Meet at the Vacuum Cleaner Museum

Where is the Museum located? The photo collection is outstanding. It reminded me of some old vacuums I worked on in the 1950's and '60's. I'd like to visit the museum so somebody please post the address and hours and days of operation. I volunteer one day a week for the Visitor Centeer Museum...

Hoover Upright U5018-900 disassembly technique needed

Repair case is closed awaiting search for two wands. Someone ran the vac without making sure the bag was firmly over the discharge tube. It is back together and runs like new. Hoover outdid themselves with design for the tool storage. Now If I can find the wands it will be complete and ready to...

Please identify two mystery parts in photos

I have posted recently about my project to repair a Fantom Twister 700LX. I have solved the intermittent wiring problem and started reassembly. The customer took it apart to try to fix it and failed. After I brought it home I found these two parts (pictured in three positions) inside it. Any...

    Poo smell in vacuum

To rid the smell in the hose Grind up charcoal to dust and work it into the hose. Baking soda might work too. To use water will only prolong the coating the debris left.

Wands needed for HOOVER Elite 5018-900

The Hoover website lists this part number 38634078 as not available. I need a pair. They measure 16.5" long x 1-1/2" ID on top end and 1-1/4" OD on bottom end. My feedback on eBay is 100% positive.

    Fantom Twister 500DX

Who aid never give up? Sir Winston Churchill was one person. This Fantom reassembly is a brain teaser. I wish I had pictures and a schematic. My two years of high school drafting classes plus the experience of designing and laying out ten restaurants between 1965 and 1985 has always been a...

    Fantom Twister 500DX

Pics of Fantom FM780 Twister 700LX Pics show disassembled parts except for three small pieces I forgot to include. Second pic shows the OEM wire pair connector I found rusted. I replaced them with Radio Shack #23-444. I have not run a power test yet but I will post a follow through afterward.

Search for schematic of Fantom Twister 700LX (FM780)

I had to shift my planned solution for the wiring harness. The OEM male connectors had rusted beyond what the CRC spray could help. Thanks to having a Radio Shack store in our town they had just the connector kit needed, namely a #23-444 7.2V connector repair kit. I spliced it in and reassembly...

Hoover Upright U5018-900 disassembly technique needed

That's what I suspected but didn't want to until I a Thanks "silent jon". I'll give it a try and post back. I want to see how the clump of lint got in there to begin with. The customer didn't have the vaguest idea of how the vac got stopped up.

    Fantom Twister 500DX

I found the black-white wire snap connector From previous posts about Fantom vacs I searched for the male-female connector where the intermittence seems to happen. In the Twister700LX (model FM780) it is in the upper assembly on the left side. I sprayed CRC electronics cleaner on both connector...

Hoover Upright U5018-900 disassembly technique needed

I am about halfway through disassembly needing to access the motor compartment where there is a clump of lint. I cannot find a way to remove the back cover from the frame structure. That three piece assembly is like a sandwich...the bag cover is the front, frame in the middle and back cover. I...

Search for schematic of Fantom Twister 700LX (FM780)

Rob Walton's solution is practical but... I found the male-female connector and sprayed it with CRC cleaner. As I reassemble I'll make certain the connector floats with the handle movement. And I'll make certain the connectors are firmly snapped. I have worked on many vacuums but haven't seen...

Search for schematic of Fantom Twister 700LX (FM780)

Three weeks ago this FM780 vac was brought to me for repair. It operates effectively but cuts out when handle is at 12 o'clock position. I have cleaned most of the parts and located the 2000 annual corporate report of Fantom Tech. I have gathered some feedback from forum members who had...
