wheres the switch on the ge roll easy

...And if it was re-introduced, it would certainly be worth it and I'd be one of the first to buy one! Those GE Roll-Easys are such cool machines, and another one I haven't yet used or seen in person. It's a shame, really, that the concept of it never caught on and that they're so rare...

Would Like an Airway Model 55

Kyle, you might want to check these Electrolux wheels out.

    An early Christmas gift !!

Congratulations, Derreck, what a sleek-looking machine...I've never seen one of these in person before either! Hopefully someone can bring theirs to Omaha (hint hint)! I'm assuming the wand detaches at the handle?

    Recent Hoover Acquisitions

Wow, I remember three of those Decades! The one on the left was the one I had for a while, except it did say "Decade 80" on the front cover. My dad's old workplace had the grey machine, second one from the right that I remember using, but with the belt off as the beater bar ROARED during...

    Hoover Medallion

Hi Marty & David, I plan on keeping this medallion in my parts stash; even though it doesn't fit my 65 it is still a very nice piece that I did want! The only reason I would think about giving it up would be if someone had a nice Convertible medallion they could trade...until that happens, it...

Can anybody tell me anything about this Hoover?

That particular Custom Convertible is on eBay right now, and judging by the pictures, it appears to be a pretty low-mileage machine. If I could afford it I'd get it, however, I see the initial bid-competition has already started, and I have a feeling it won't be ending for $29...

    Hoover Medallion

Hi everyone, I just bought a maroon Hoover medallion off of eBay from Marty K., thinking it would fit my Model 65 (whose medallion is VERY scratched up as well as dented). I didn't mind switching the color if it fit, however, this one happens to be much too big. Is there anyone out there who...

A quick group photo of Perivale's finest!

Si, thanks for sharing, that is quite a nice collection of Juniors! I have to say that my favorites are the Dirtsearcher models; I think that is so ingenious how the connection for the headlight works, and how the cover can still be removed.

    Recent Hoover Acquisitions

Derreck, congratulations on another great set of machines! Those Decade 80s are great. I had the lower-end version for a while; white handle with a blue grip, and no headlight. Just a blue opaque lens where the headlight is. Got bored with it after a while (I guess I'm a dyed-in-the-wool...

1983 hoover compact and sensotronic first series

Another fab brochure, thanks for sharing! I agree that some look like the Spirit cleaners over here, but with a much wider powernozzle; they should have offered the "tiny" version as well, that is too cool!

When did you get your first vac for Christmas?

My first toy vacuum that I received for Christmas was in 1991, when I was 3, and the first REAL vacuum came in Christmas '95, when I was 7. It was a Singer 3-in-1 stick vac that I wanted for the longest time, and you could tell I was excited when I was opening it up! I scanned and posted...

New finds, and one slightly modified machine...

Finally, a Hoover "big wheel" Portable 2260. Definitely well-loved (bag mount is rusty, crevice tool and upholstery brush were in horrible shape and couldn't be saved, and don't ask about the horrendous amount of birdseed and rocks I vacuumed out of the bag chamber), but cleaned up a little...

New finds, and one slightly modified machine...

And now, another power drive Concept One, model U3109. This one is more BOL (and louder) than my other Concept, a U3101; no cord reel or headlight and it's only 1 speed. Doesn't appear to have received much use; Mother's mag wheel polish (the best stuff EVER) took care of the scuffing on the...

New finds, and one slightly modified machine...

Looks like an ordinary Eureka-made compact canister, doesn't it? Guess again! You can't tell in this picture, but it has been modified with a 7.1-amp motor. It is much bigger than the original motor (with bad bearings, and the commutator didn't look too good either). At first, it was way too big...

Hoover US Full Line Catalog Late 70s

Thanks for sharing! Awesome brochure, I had a U6039 DAM for a while but it wasn't nearly as new-looking, ha! Interesting that the 1348 is still around, but no mention is made of the U1025 (harvest gold/butterscotch version like I have). I would have been almost certain it was mid or late-70's...

    hoover Italian brochure 1978

Tommy, what a fantastic brochure, thanks for posting! I myself like the U4082 as well...just the thought of a black-base commercial Convertible with the old-style Deluxe hood is spine-tingling! Another thing I find interesting is the fact that the canisters have strikingly different floor...

I gave myself a very nice Christmas gift

Skip, congratulations! VERY stylish machine in my opinion, and I love the "vintage" turquoise color!

    Thrift Store Finds!!!

Awesome finds! Wow Derreck, you sure lucked out with those, especially seeing as how the combined total was less than $10!!! That Hoover 63 is just gorgeous! I'm wondering, does it have the Type W disposable bag setup? I'm pretty sure a Convertible belt will work, but if you're looking for...

    Eureka canister question

For the Eureka experts: Can the motor in a canister be disassembled in order to grease the bearings? The reason I ask is because my Bradford (Eureka) compact canister is showing symptoms of "Dry Bearing Syndrome", and has sort of a "dry whine" occasionally, that either happens right when I turn...

What I used to vacuum my house tonight...

I'll admit I certainly wouldn't attempt to pick up broken glass with any of my Eurekas. Now the metal-base Convertibles on the other hand I would feel less hesitant about using for that job...
