How to replace a Eureka bulb?

Oops Forgot to include this picture in my previous post. The hood and headlight frame of my Eureka 664A. Yes, this machine wasn't exactly pretty when I got it, as seen here. I did remove the excessive scuffing on the base with Mother's mag wheel polish since this was taken. At the mini-meet...

How to replace a Eureka bulb?

Excellent find...those Eureka 1400-series uprights (which is what this one is) are great machines. Lightweight, but also good cleaners. I'm wondering what type of hood this machine has. If the hood is metal (which most 3.5-amp machines with the round footswitch have), and the headlight housing...

They certainly put out quite a racket!

    A day with Stan Kann

Looks like another fun gathering! The Model 425 is a nice machine; does Stan's have the original flat belt setup? And that Royal Standard is BEAUTIFUL! I love those machines with the bag mounted on the right...better suited to lefties like me.

    My new Broomy/Broom vac..

Yes, the tools for the DD hand vac will work, and I'm not sure about the motor. As for the noise level, you'll find out soon...;-) I will say they don't sound anything like a Kirby though.

high speed swicth on hoover convertible

Question: How does the switch activate, and where is it mounted on the machine? Also, what is the model number of the Convertible you have?

My Hoover Feature - Bigger 'n' Better!!

Charles, another great addition to the already wonderful Hoover page! That sateen bag with the "handle slider" on the 541 is quite cool, and I didn't realize those were original...all of the 541s I've seen on eBay have had dark bags! I have to admit, the silk cord, bag, and wooden handle are...

    A Hoover Tease!

WOW What a fantastic article (and "See it Clean" videos), your 475 is just in BEAUTIFUL shape! I love the 700 as well. I never would have thought that, like you said, it sat in someone's backyard for 25 years. I know that Southwest climate played a large part in preserving the machines in the...

    Bison questions

Bison Thanks Fred for scanning the manual...very cool machine. Wish there were more around. I have yet to use one or hear one run, so I'm looking forward to hearing Clay's presentation as well. I can definitely see where they were trying to make improvements over the Kirby design, especially...

    My New Juniors!

Si, congratulations on the Juniors. Your U1012 shares the same color scheme I have on my U1025, aside from the checkered bag (and missing bumper!) on mine. As for the handgrip, most types of aerosol penetrants (which I've used quite a bit working on washing machines and are great on corroded...

    Before and After!

Jack, great pictures, the difference is incredible! I LOVE the styling of that Model 900!

I wonder what could be in here?

Fred, congratulations! That machine looks like it's in good shape as well, especially the original bag and hose. I now need to find a hose for mine (have the converter already); I'm sure one will turn up on eBay soon. What a shame about the original plug being replaced with that ugly yellow...

    My New Vacs!

Interesting machines! That Fantom is a Euro-Pro version. Derreck, I was wondering the same thing. I'm willing to bet the latter, LOL.

    Hoovers in action...

Jack and Si, fantastic videos, it's always interesting to hear a machine I've never heard before as well as see it in action! Thanks for sharing!

    Vacuums from my friend Patrick....

Derreck, congratulations! Isn't that just the best color on the 589? I LOVE mine! Like Fred said, they're really good machines for being "lower-tier" models.

    725 Design Oddities

Interesting observations. Both (pre beater bar) brushrolls in my Hoover "Baby" 103 and 105 have perforated endcaps and ball bearings. I was told that these were rebuilt and "modernized" at one point, as they originally used wooden bearings! Since these tufted brushrolls are of course a smaller...

    kirby history

A couple interesting things I noticed... Where are the models 2C-4C, 508-509, 511-515, 517-562, and the Sanitronic VII!?!? Unlike the detailed version on the website (which was identical to this poster otherwise), this version is incomplete at best. Surely these other models were worth...

Hoover Concept that came in today....

Wow, now that is too strange. I'm wondering the same thing as well...the only thing I can think of is that the bearings seized up (or something got large caught in the brushroll and stopped it) causing the belt to twist (and subsequently) melt on the shaft. Interesting to say the least.

Scott & Fetzer Home Sanitation System

Wow, it IS in fantastic shape for being close to 80 years old! Have you plugged it in yet? ;-)
