I have made my peace with James Dyson..........for now

Soon after writing my latest post, this arrived! It wasn't due until tomorrow so it was a bit of a surprise. I know it's the base model, but it gives me an excuse to upgrade later on. Now where's my camcorder, I feel an unboxing video coming on.

I have made my peace with James Dyson..........for now

The unboxing video of my DC40 will be on my Youtube channel tomorrow, followed by the full review two weeks later. I have just registered the guarantee with Dyson, so this one's a keeper. In fact, it is just the first of quite a few Dysons I want to try, starting with one of the cordless...

    Hoover Turbopower 1000

Those little oblong air fresheners smelt horrible, unlike the round air fresheners Hoover used to produce. I still have stocks of orchard blossom, spring bouquet, summer meadow and tobacco clear. They are like a time machine for me, with every whiff transporting me back to the 80's.

Sebo Felix, how does it compare?

One inch thick carpets! You'd better not ever invite Mickey Rooney over or you'll never be able to find him. Check out the link below where I took part of that quote from.

    DC59 Animal Complete ordered !

I am toying with getting a Dyson cordless after my positive experience of the DC40, but will probably go for the DC44 so I have an excuse to upgrade to whatever is the top model when I chose to get another. I had one of the early animal cordless hand held machines and wasn't that impressed, but...

It looks like the differences are only cosmetic, but go for the newer model if you prefer how it looks.

    Vax/Hoover Cordless Floormate

Thank you Brian, I enjoy making the videos and try to make them informative and entertaining most of the time. There is still a lot more to come, unboxings, reviews and general floorcare fun. Oh, I'm a poet and didn't know it! I should use that line at the end of my next video.

Aggie McKenzie reviews vacuums for The Guardian

I saw that article and wondered what she was going on about the Airram. I didn't find mine hard to push as the brushes help to pull it along. I'm wondering if her sample was faulty.

    Vax/Hoover Cordless Floormate

Just received a Cordless Floormate from Vax after I mentioned that I would like to test one and I must say I am very impressed so far. I have owned many Floormates from the first Hoover branded one we got in the UK to the later Spinscrub Vax Trio model. I also own an earlier cordless Floormate...

    Sebo X4 brushroll not turning.

I have never had any belt problems with Sebo vacs, but regular flat belts do stretch and snap after a while. My Turbopower 2 seems to suffer from the stretched belt syndrome more than any other upright I've owned and while the brushes still rotate, you can hear the activator slowing down on...

I have made my peace with James Dyson..........for now

I have been using it on max, but going forward I will probably use it on normal as it is easier to push and the normal setting works best on my hard floors. The only thing it will not clean is my wool rug in the living room. With the brush on, the cut out operates and stops the brush bar and...

I have made my peace with James Dyson..........for now

I really am loving my DC 40. It is certainly the best Dyson I have used and it makes me want to try some of the other new Dyson models. I may get a cylinder next because I'm not keen on using an upright for above floor cleaning and I like some of the Dyson tools, especially the soft dusting...

Good Ideas Compact Twin Tub Washing Machine

My first one had damage to one side and the spin lid didn't close properly, but the replacement has been fine so far. I have used it exclusively for all my laundry until this week when I used my automatic as I was busy doing other things. The twin tub is a lot faster, but of course you have to...

A fascinating vintage Hoover Floor Washer video

I think packardmanken was asking about the solution to put in the floor washer he owns, not suggesting he would use a vacuum not designed for wet use. I believe you should avoid anything bleach or pine based as they can damage the plastics. I would have thought modern Hoover solution designed...

I have made my peace with James Dyson..........for now

I have only used the tools briefly on my stairs and cleaning a blind with the soft dusting brush that I still had from when I owned a Dyson before. The hose is just a bit short to reach comfortably to the top of the stairs, even with the wand attached and I found cleaning my blind a bit tiring...
