old Kirby hose on ebay (looks like 500 series) worth it?

Hmm not sure if the seller will ship to Canada, period. Can't seem to have the option to ask him any questions. If someone else is interested, go for it.

old Kirby hose on ebay (looks like 500 series) worth it?

I just bought a 510 which is in really nice shape, but the hose was "dried out" so they threw it away (kept the ends). There is a little bit of cloth left on the one and and it appears that it matches this hose on ebay. Now the question is, would this crack and fall apart if you were to use...

    Seriously?

You are crazy. I would buy it for a penny, fix the cord, and then resell it to some Dyson fanboy for lots of money. Then when it breaks, they can buy my G3. LOL

    hi new member

Welcome! I'd love to see pictures of your old Kirbys. Do they have mostly original parts? I have a 510 myself, that I picked up last week, it's a cool little machine!

    Tradition/Heritage mix-up?

You will need a hose from Heritage, Heritage II, or Legend II. I in fact have several Heritage hoses but am looking for a hose and (blue) attachments for my Tradition. I don't have a whole set of Heritage attachments but would be willing to trade a Heritage hose towards your set, if you are...

Looking for a Heritage/II/Legend part someone must have kicking around!

My Heritage II was missing the bag and emptor. I bought a emptor and bag, but there is nothing on the top of the bag to hold it to the handle. I looked all over ebay and there is NOTHING! I don't want to order a new one because it will be stupid expensive and I could probably just buy another...

Kirby Model 519 Broken Fan/ impeller need replacement

I have had good experience with Kirby Needs ebay store. http://cgi.ebay.com/Kirby-Vacuum-Fan-Impeller-fits-516-Legend-II-/180639634779?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a0ef6155b#ht_2825wt_1163 Looks like it's the same fan from model 516 through Legend II, so you should be able to find one...

    The Hoover Dementia

That is a cool looking machine! Love 80s technology! 4.3 peak HP that must have good suction as my 13gallon shop-vac is rated for 6hp peak!

    moth crystals

I don't think the Crystallator for my 510 has ever been used. I don't intend to use it either as most of my attachments still look like brand new. :) What model did Kirby stop offering that as a feature? I remember quite a few years ago (I'm 28) of old people that smelled like moth balls, but...

    New Kirby addition, at last!!!

That LII bag looks interesting, I assume you are keeping the original in storage for if you decide to change it back? (how did it come out anyways?) Nice to see that you intend on using it anyways! I hate shakeout bags. The Tradition in the background you have the 2 sexiest Kirbys ever made. ;)

    The Things People Throw Away...

People are lazy, plain as that. Picked up a perfectly good G4 at a thift store for $25 (same thing as throwing away, except donating instead). It has some kind of TINY "type B" bag pushed onto the fill tube connector. There was dust all over the inside of the bag(duh!!). People too cheap to...

How Many of You Modify Your Kirby This Way?

I really like the look of that Kirby 561 with Classic III handle and a Legend II bag! I mean it shouldn't be done of original parts are there, but if they aren't then why not? Make use of the machine!! As for the first link- I can understand wanting to convert to disposable bags (I hate...

Kirby 509- how much are they worth?

I bought it!! It's a 510 purchased 1951. I will make a new thread with pictures and details later. :) Norm: I didn't find this vac, but rather it found me! I posted an ad on kijiji (same thing as craigslist) "Wanted kirby vacuums" (you get the idea). i got my Heritage 84 and this one...

    New Kirby addition, at last!!!

excited for you to get it and take more pics (or videos)! The older "pre-Classic" Kirbys I think the D80 is by far the nicest looking. For one thing it has the wider fork handle with label, which looks better than the metal "broomstick" look of the older ones. And yes, the green!

Kirby 509- how much are they worth?

Thanks for those pics Ralph! Gives me a much better idea of what to look for. According to one site the 516 (1956) was the first to get that "streamlined" motor housing, so that would be the first give away. I'll keep you posted, I'm hoping to get to look at it today once she emails me back.

Kirby 509- how much are they worth?

Lets assume it has been kept in a closet or dry basement most of it's life, has normal oxidation on the aluminum and some wear but overall complete and original. (I'm making this up have not seen pics or anything). Would there be much difference in price between 509 and 519? Also if the...
