    Compact c9 detailling

I think the catch is that you don't leave the cleaner on the rubber a long time it should be fine. You could always test it out in the back side of the bumper and see how it reacts.

    Putting the Compact to work

Well you should post some pics, the early machines are similar but some of the features changed over the years like the way the exhaust port is setup.

    Putting the Compact to work

Thanks, didn't really want to have to replace another motor so soon so we'll see how it does now that everything is loosened up and working properly again. One thing I like is it's pretty quiet compared to my other two Royals and yes the bag is super easy to change or just dump out seeing how...

    Putting the Compact to work

New belt Well I tried to use my C9 today and the brush was hardly spinning so I broke out the second new belt that was in the bag Starks sold us and now the brush spins like it should again so maybe I didn't have the brush roll freed up and lubed well enough or I ran over too much junk right...

    1959 Desoto Firesweep Sweepy

upgrades... You should try to find a 2 door hardtop version some day, the coolest versions they made and should have been fairly common as car guys back then always wanted the sportier models, plus a lot of the parts from a 4 door would work like the whole front end, trunk lid, trim parts, at...

    Putting the Compact to work

Belt and powerhead motor for mine Rex, I put a brand new belt in it right after I replaced the main motor. The thing sat in moms closet for 30 years and everything was dead or almost locked up after all that time and the main motor something was loose inside but it still tried to work. It's...

    1959 Desoto Firesweep Sweepy

When I was a little kid those were the 10 year old cars we could get dirt cheap. We had a 57 Plymouth wagon with a 315 poly, a 60 full size Dart 4 door, 55 Cadillac coupe de ville hard top, and others in the immediate family and parts cars. Both of the Mopars still used the push button...

    The right kind of crazy...

Well just looked it up and that brilliance looks like a nice upright style vac, hadn't researched one but looks like a high quality machine.

    Putting the Compact to work

Yeah I looked them up and there are plenty for 30 or less shipped but I have other projects I'm working on now that have soaked up most of my toy and project money. My car needs new tires, trying to get the upgraded European projector headlights I paid 180 for finally for my sisters 300m, stuff...

    The right kind of crazy...

I now have a Compact C9, Royal/Stark 4650 canister, Royal 413 canister, Royal/Stark 5700 upright, and some battery and ac stick vacs. I think my favorites are the 4650 and the 5700 depending on what I'm doing and which ones handy but I've been using the Compact and it does very well with a new...

Why am I fascinated with vacuum cleaners?

I like things that do their job well and are built like tanks, plus are serviceable and easy to fix. I like cars, computers, electronics, vacuums, washer and dryers, anything I can work on and modify to my liking. Actually I like tons of things and always try to find the best whatever for my...

    Putting the Compact to work

I think mine may need a new power head motor soon as it always seems to bog down on my normal modern low pile carpet. Vacuum motor is new of course and works great but I lubed up the head motor and it spins pretty fast till it hits the carpet. I'll probably replace it sometime but other...

Why don’t newer machines have carpet fluffers??

I like my carpets, they feel great on my feet and are warm during winter. All my vacuums do a great job of raising the knap and making them look nice. I hate that they get dark in the traffic areas and get lumpy as they get older and stretch. We need to shampoo ours now being about 6 years old...

    TriStar/Compact canister Mom gave me

I have a 12x16 mini barn shed with a loft and 4 br so one is kinda the everything we use a bit but don't want out in the shed room so a bit of storage but could always use more. Put one of the new bags in as the 30 or so year old one was pretty full and worn out. You can dump the bags easily and...

"A Rose By Any Other Name"

Usually we called them the vacuum or vacuum cleaner. I've got a few now so they get called whatever they are. The Royal 4650, the upright Royal, the new Compact, and others. I think I have enough vacuums and glad I haven't collected washing machines like on our sister site. We only have so much...

    Buying a Jigsaw!?

If your not going to use it for production or uber critical work it might be worth checking out what Harbor Freight might have as many of their cheap electric tools come in several grades from super cheap crap to not so bad but cheap stuff. I bought a 12" dual compound sliding miter saw for 130...

    Another D80!

Cool that you got a dream vac with almost everything they ever came with. My Royal 4650 is still happy thanks to the plugs you sent me and I've been working on and playing with the Compact C9/Sir Anthony James vac my mom got in about 77 she recently gave me. It really helps when members support...

    Bag/bagless observations

I like all my bagged machines for carpet and general cleaning but I have a dirt cheap Dirt Devil stick vac bagless I like using to clean my parrots cage area to suck up all the food crumbs and chewed up paper and things. Bags fill up so fast with that kind of volume bagless is quicker and...

    TriStar/Compact canister Mom gave me

Got a 12 pack Ordered a 12 pack, surprisingly Amazon was a few bucks cheaper with free prime shipping so they'll probably be here Saturday. I spose I could order some for the Royal too but now we have a ton of the cheaper ones to burn through and I think the hepa part of the Royal is a bit...

    The beautiful Tri-Star/Compact models

Mom just gave me the aftermarket Anthony James C9 Compact and I've been working it over and put a new motor and belt in it as they were both toast. It now runs and cleans as nice as I remembered from when I was a teenager. I have a thread about it here. They are very simple machines that just...
