    Central Vacuums

Central vs. Portable... As a vacuum retailer, it's best for me to sell whatever I think the client will be happiest with. This is the "ice cream" mentality -- we have all these flavors to choose from, which one would you prefer? However, a person buying a vacuum cleaner is trying to get a job...

FOR SALE: Replacement Bag Gaskets for Royal Prince Hand Vacuums & Other Royal Vacuums

I ordered several of these bag gaskets a couple of months ago, and they arrived promptly and well-packed. Only now am I getting around to replacing the worn and leaking gaskets on my Royal 501 and 5000 hand cleaners. Along with the three vacuums' worth of 1/4" gasket material I ordered (enough...

    Help! Royal 4000 wiring diagram

And I think the problem you are having may be that your machine is wired properly but the bulbs you bought are for 120 volts, so 12 volts won't do much for them. All Kenmore PNs to my knowledge used 120 volt double contact bayonet bulbs.

    Help! Royal 4000 wiring diagram

The Royal 4000 had a "drop in" style motor with an extra tap off the field coil to supply 12 volts to the bulb. The wiring goes: Black from handle to black motor White from handle to white motor and white lamp Yellow from motor to black lamp The proper bulb is a 12 volt double contact bulb. I...

Royal Prince 3-501 Handheld Vacuum Cleaner Fabric Bag Replacement

Another idea the Royal style H disposable bags I believe are still available...they would go inside the cloth bag and catch the dirt so the compromised cloth bag wouldn't leak. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Royal-501-502-Type-H-Vacuum-Cleaner-3-Paper-Bags-3050247001/636825872

My First 'Vacuum Video' on YouTube: Royal/Stark M570 Hand Vacuum

Nice video! I love these machines and especially the burgundy 5000 style. That gray fan appears to be made to rotate the opposite way, based on the curvature of the blades. I bet the original fan with its deeper blades curved for the rotation of the Prince's motor would perform significantly...

Obscure (and most likely cheap) stick vacuum

I remember in the early 2000s seeing a very similar shaped but light gray colored machine called a "Joe Campanelli Quick-Vac", I wonder if it was made in blue for other sales channels/names. Or maybe they just took one and painted it for the commercial.

Replacement & Upgrade Bag Gasket/Seal For Royal Prince m501/m5000's!

Looks great! I applaud your detective work and would be interested in buying some from you for my 5000 and 501, which are both just about like new except for these gaskets! Do you use yours with the H bags inside?

Has Anyone Ever Seen A Royal Prince M5000 Like This!!??

Very cool! I have the more common M5000 with the pink/mauve bag and yours looks much nicer. Never knew they made these all the way to '97 either. They are a great little vac, so much more solid and quiet than anything else.

Looks amazing! You sure can cook.

    Electrolux XI what happened?

Points for creativity to whomever made that single stage Lamb fit into the XI's housing, but big negative points for originality >:O I have to assume the original motor was beyond repair. Love that cutaway diagram, Ray! To me it looks like two rotating fans with a stationary one between. My...

1949-1954, Interstate Eng Corp, Revelation, Carbon Brush

Here you go: These brushes are the same as used in many central vac motors, still available thankfully. https://www.amazon.com/Ametek-Lamb-Vacuum-Cleaner-Carbon/dp/B008MNYG6Q

    My thoughts on Speed Queen

Here is my set of Speed Queens - also from 2017. I bought the washer first out of necessity; old 1990s Maytag went out. That was for our old house with laundry room in the basement and I didn`t care if the set matched. When we bought and started to remodel the new house I realized the laundry...

    Speaking of the Model F

It's been a while since I looked at your website, Charles. Really enjoyed seeing it again. I love the story on the last page, about Fumi's Model F! Very very cool. When I was a kid, the neighbor across the street gave me a nice Model R, with a cloth bag in it and the "early donut style"...

    Electrolux Model VI / 6 / S626 from 20's

This is very cool! Even the Model V is extremely hard to find. I never even heard of a Model VI (would have assumed this to be simply a version of the V, as there were several versions including detachable runners, fixed runners, different badges).   So tempted.

    1911 Central vacuum system help

Have to say I am stumped by these inlets - they are like none I have seen before. Several manufacturers did offer locking-type inlets, though I am surprised to see them in a home (they were usually for public buildings, schools, etc).   How many inlets do you have in your home? There were...

    Central Vacuum Inlets

MD vs Drainvac <span style="font-size: 12pt;">Full disclosure - I make my living selling and servicing central vac systems. Am a dealer for several major brands, and I happily defer to customer preference when they are interested in a particular brand. My own brand preferences come from my...

    tornado vacuum with big bag.

Here are some pictures I saved from an old for-sale posting of a Breuer-Tornado machine -looks like it's missing the bag. The design says 30's-40's to me, but could be later. Looks powerful -and loud! Wish I could try one out.
