    vintage as daily

Vintage as daily At home I use a "fairly modern" late 1980s MD central vacuum...though I will from time to time pull out a nice vintage Hoover for the rugs. To clean the store, I have installed a ca. 1920 Spencer Turbine 2 horsepower machine. Its motor was replaced sometime in the last 50...

Check this out !! For Kirby lovers

Nice!! That first one was called the "Aer-Rotor", right? Somewhere out there, you know one still exists...

    A Funny Kirby Recollection

Lol! Sounds like something I would have done. What model Electrolux would have been sold at the time? That's quite a change from an old Kirby to a brand-new Lux (with power nozzle, I assume)...

    Spencer Central Vacuums

A huge number of big, important buildings from the first half of the twentieth century were outfitted with built-in vacuum cleaning systems...and the majority of those were Spencer Turbine. Sadly, as robust and versatile (not to mention hygienic) as these systems were, they often fell into...

    Vintage Spencer Industries Turbine Vacuum

I know I'm reviving a 4 year old thread here, but... Your machine looks very similar to the portable one shown here in this ad from a 1948 edition of "The American School Board Journal". These machines had many commercial applications like cleaning aircraft, movie theaters, schools...

New and improved Air Way Dust indicator

Looks good, CRL I like your fix. Cool to see the original plug, also...my Sanitary System has an original cord but replacement plug. It's hanging in the store and could really use some polishing up.

Some vintage fans at antique mall.

Neat, the grille design on the last one is kind of crazy. Did you buy any?

88 heritage II factory 13” nozzle and dump bag

Tempting, it's in great shape and the small nozzle and dump out bag are such uncommon options. This must have been the model for the "I love my 516 and I want a new one just like it!" buyer.

What Do These Motors Go To?

I've got a couple just like that too! :P

    Electrolux Model L Goodwill Find!

Nice find, Charles! I never knew the early versions of the L came with that E-type toggle switch. The only ones I've come into contact with have had the later slide type. This would have been sold alongside the turquoise G, correct? Hard to tell in the picture but it appears the hose has a...

KIRBY MODE R 1934 TOGGLE SWITCH

Of course, the R may have used an entirely different switch from the 3R. As Kieran said, a picture would help! Owen

KIRBY MODE R 1934 TOGGLE SWITCH

I had a 3R once upon a time. As I recall it used a black plastic toggle switch very much like a Hoover 28/913/etc. This won't be a switch available new, but should be easy enough to find used...even if it means sacrificing an old Hoover handle off a parts machine.

    Duntley vacuum

Very cool!! I would love to see and hear those working. Santo also made a built-in vacuum, the "Santo Duplex" which used a diaphragm pump to create suction. Like a really large aquarium air pump. I can't imagine it worked very well. Your units are ones I would keep, but of course if they...

    Royal RY6900 vacuum

The RY5500 was not a Sebo/Windsor product, but a very close copy of the popular Windsor Versamatic (made by Sebo and a fixture in US commercial cleaning for 30+ years). It is identical to the old Minuteman MPV upright but in orange instead of burgundy. I don't know who made it for...

    Vibra-Groomer II with Square Ends

Would the change from square ends to hex ends have been concurrent with the change from metal bases to plastic? I've only ever seen square end machines with metal bases and wooden disturbulator or spiral aluminum Vibra Groomer I brushrolls. I suspect the square end VGII was made only as a...

    Hoover toy sales men

very cute...interesting color, I guess it stands out more than the polished aluminum that the Hoovers of 1933 would have been?

    eBay collection for sale

Some good stuff there. Wonder whose collection it was? I'm intrigued by the early Regina Electrikbroom. The later ones are just kind of cheap and nasty (IMO) but the first generation one has a charm about it.
