Very Sad News to Share with Everyone

Very sad...too young. I always enjoyed talking central vacs with Fred...he was a fellow CV fan and would tell the story of retrofitting his first system (Filtex) in Chicago in the early 1970s, then having MD systems installed in subsequent homes in LA, St. Charles, and Palm Springs. Weirdly, I...

    Mosquito vs ProTeam

It's always interesting for me to look at commercial products and different manufacturers' attempts to make things "worker proof" and easily repaired. Simpler designs seem to be better all around. As frustrating as it is to have to repair the same failure-prone components over and over, it's...

Wanting to buy a Eureka Mighty Mite

We come across the blue Sanitaire version of these from time to time, which I always thought was a neat machine. Metal hose handle and wands, plus deluxe tools. I don't think they ever made a red commercial Sanitaire version of the C-bag Mighty Mite, though they did of the later N-bag unit...

Yahoo Article on Support of Indoor Shoes Removal & Hard Floor Cleaning Procedure. Dry Foam Shampoo?

I can't imagine wet cleaning floors without vacuuming first. The author is painting with a broad brush (or broom) when she states that sweeping and vacuuming will "stir up toxins". Sweeping, certainly. Save that for the patio. The best vacuum for not "stirring up toxins" would be one whose...

looking for help tracking down repair for central vac

Electrical problem...is the system failing to activate when the hose is inserted? If you hear a small "click" from the canister when you insert the hose, but the motor won't start, there's a 99% chance the motor has failed and needs to be replaced. If that does not describe your issue, can you...

    Forgotten Hoover Products

I do remember there being a mid to late 1990s Hoover Elite model which they called the "Constellation"...saw one once years ago at the local grocery store!

    Vintage Royal Vacuum project

Looks incredible!! I'm sure your machine hasn't looked that good since it was sold. Can't wait to see it finished and running.

Mighty Lite ML1200-A - Eureka Rebrand

The bottom tag is a clue...RW Home Products was Arnie Wasserman...he distributed to vac shops. More recently he and his brother Bob were sales reps for ESSCO. It appears that RW contracted with Eureka to produce this private label machine. Just another option for a vac shop to carry without...

Free infamous Mistral Gyro-aire box fan - needs repair

A Gyroaire Mistral was our bench fan at the vac shop for years. I started there in 2000 and it was always hanging around. The handle was broken, the plug had been replaced, it was filthy, but it worked as long as I can remember. This brings back memories! Owen

    PullMan Central Vac

I have never seen that Eureka power head labeled "RUGmate" before! Pullman centrals were based off of their cart mounted wet/dry vacs like the "Vacmobile" popular at service stations. Early Pullman units with a bucket at the bottom are approx 1960s-early 1970s. The baby blue units with a...

Dirt Devil Plus 8 gallon wet/dry vac

Nice! I remember we carried that one (though it may have been black) as well as the Eureka wet/dry vacuum at the shop. Only sold one or two a year. Most people would go and get a Shop Vac from Ace Hardware, or a Craftsman from Sears, or later on a Ridgid from Home Depot...which was an Emerson...

Desperate Need of a Lindhaus HF6 Electric Hose!

Ahhh, that makes sense. The last HF6 I saw was 10+ years ago, and it was old then! So the current HF6 hoses have the same handle as the Aria hose, but a different machine connection. Wish I could help. Maybe a vac shop somewhere that sells a lot of Lindhaus will have one (even if it's not...

Desperate Need of a Lindhaus HF6 Electric Hose!

I recall the HF6 hose having a very similar machine end to a Plastiflex central vacuum electric hose. I wonder if one of those could be adapted? Is your hose broken, or missing?

    Windsor Versamatic VSE 1-3

These are what the schools I attended all used. I remember in elementary school (mid 1990s) the "old" ones had a tapered motor housing that only met the nozzle at the neck. The hose had a curved end too. The "newer" ones looked just like yours. By junior high (late 90s-early 00s) the newest...

    Top loading bagged Beam?!

I quite like the design of these units. A good copy of an MD (but these older ones are without the onboard utility valve, making it possible to use a simple single-intake closed bag). They are much less common labeled as Beam, but Beam has built them under the Eureka, Frigidaire, and Heatilator...

    Filter Queen Optima

I am familiar with the "Empress" private label for the Henry Company...but "Emerald Princess" is a new one. Very cool!

Today was a Sweeper Vac kind of day

Great find! That nickel plating on the fan case seems to have yellowed quite a bit. Maybe some Bar Keeper's Friend will bring it back to life? I just learned about using BKF on the chrome of my Cadillac and it looks amazing. Took the hard water spots and streaks right off! Does it run?

    Today's Marketplace Find

Score! That will clean up well. Cool to have the box, too! I once had one that looked just like that but with the switch in the handle. So that would have been a 2R. Original bag, too. The handle grip rubber had disintegrated so I just wrapped the metal with black electrical tape.

    Dirt Devil Cleaning Slippers

Happy birthday! I kind of like those cleaning slippers. Might as well have something to show for it when you're shuffling around the house in the morning. Alex, those patents are wild! Wonder if any "bellows vacuum shoes" or "rocking chair vacuum" devices were ever sold. The rocking chair...
