    Air-Way Sanitizor Tom Gasko design

Hmmm. Kind of a modern take on a Kenkart. Hesco shows the bags available, 12 bags for $10.73 (cheap!). They turn up on Amazon too. No schematic for it on Hesco. Bummer. I love this buying vacuums sight unseen. Oh, I've never done it, nope, not me (heh, heh, heh).

No refunds. So sorry. How it goes. Kenmore? I was using a Hoover. I wanted something better and I needed HEPA filtration for my allergy suffering fiancee. This upright and the Hoover are HEPA. I have some very old Kenmores in the collection but they aren't so good for cleaning and have...

    The 1962 Vacuum Cleaner Report

Kirby519, go look at the attachments in a modern Panasonic full sized canister like an MC-CG902 or MC-CG937. They are the same full sized attachments Sears sold thirty years ago on identical 1 1/4 inch wands. They might be the last old school vacuum on the market and God bless them for it...

    The 1962 Vacuum Cleaner Report

Apologies to all but I wasn't thinking about recreational vacuuming. Between dogs, a newborn and a student fiancee/mother of our newborn, vacuuming is a job that needs to be done as quickly and completely as possible at a time when I won't wake the baby up. No time for nostalgia about times...

    Hoover Dimension 1000 questions

The vacuum shop had original M bags and a belt for the Power Drive floor brush. I will have to come up with something for a filter I guess. So far I have disassembled and cleaned every vac I've bought unless it was brand new and never used. Something about blowing someone else's crud around...

Well, this week has been productive!

I like the Hoover sulking over at the end of the photo. It's a nice color. One of those is on my someday list of Hoover canisters I want to add to my collection. What condition is it in?

Btw, I got bitten right here too believing the received wisdom of the senior posters when I was stalking this site earlier. My upright was a, uh, shall we say budget Hoover pushing two decades old. Based on what people were saying here I decided to pop for a high end German upright. It's a...

My apologies to upset you Kirbyloverdan. Sincerely. I didn't mean to get you mad. I have had expensive Euro cars and bikes too. Over time I have come to regard all of that kind of thing as over priced for what you get. BMW charges a five figure premium for an M car over what they charge...

The comment on sleeve bearings is comparing apples to oranges. Those big industrial sleeve bearings mentioned above have full flow lubrication going to them to cool, lube and keep the bearing material clean. A sleeve bearing in a vacuum motor lives in heat and dirt, heat and the lubricant is...

    The 1962 Vacuum Cleaner Report

I have dogs Kenkart. They are a long haired breed that sheds. Straight suction won't touch dog hair. I tried using different attachments. Even the full sized Panasonic floor brush teamed with a brand new full sized canister has a hard time on a couple of the throw rugs, requiring several...

Ok guys...What was the best canister or tank..

Hmmm. Late 60's those big old steel bodied Kenmore canisters with their Powermates were about as good as it got. They were a little bit loud and crudely built in an endearing American way but durable and powerful (for the era). Sears went out of their way back then to always sell the most...

I never have that kind of luck with yard sales or thrift stores.

    Hoover Dimension 1000 questions

Thanks. I hope you are right about the bags. I use HEPA in everything after it has been cleaned up to keep it clean. Sometimes that means using a non-standard bag. I run a Kenmore HEPA bag in some of my Panasonics because Panasonic doesn't sell a HEPA bag for their old Jet Flo vacuums...

    Hoover Dimension 1000 questions

I recently bought a nice looking Hoover Dimension 1000 canister. It is one of the vacs I have long wanted. It isn't my first Hoover but it is my first Hoover canister and I know almost nothing about them. I have three questions. Number one, is the attachment compartment lid hinged to the...

Uprights? I thought we were talking about canister vacuums? Yes, for hard floors use a good straight suction horse hair floor brush. But for throw rugs and carpets I use a powered floor brush. Straight suction won't do the job. To me it is pointless to have a straight suction tool for...

I was at my favorite vacuum shop today. The owner is a licensed Kirby repair shop and has quite a few of them around. Two are out on the sales floor for very reasonable prices. As I was waiting my turn to pay for what I bought I said to the owner "next time I'm in if you aren't too busy maybe...

    Kirby Power Edger???

Super-sweeper nailed it. The very first thing that came to mind when I saw the title of this thread was lawn care. I mean, if you can use a Kirby as a grinder, why not an edger? Both make as much sense (meaning no sense to me). Vacuum up the trimmings as you edge.

    The 1962 Vacuum Cleaner Report

Panasonic attachments are basically the same pieces that came on Sears vacuums thirty years ago. Standard 1 1/4 inch wands and full sized attachments, just like the old days. It is one of their great virtues. Aerus still has excellent traditional attachments as well. But, really, who today...
