    POWER TOOLS FOR WET-SANDING KIRBYS

What is the best way to sand scratches out of Kirby aluminum castings? I've been wet-standing by hand and if I spend long enough doing it, the results are great. The problem is that it just about kills my hand. Is there an easier way? Are there power tools that can wet-sand on these...

COUPLE OF KIRBY QUESTI ONS 500 SERIES

results Hey, the bleach took care of everything, but I did need to let it soak a bit. Rinsing off after 45 seconds didn't quite do the trick. I also scrubbed a bit to get the final layer of residue removed. Looks as good as new at this point, just hope that this mold is not disease-producing...

COUPLE OF KIRBY QUESTI ONS 500 SERIES

Hoses Is this same kind of mold also responsible for the white residue I find on old Kirby hoses, especially from the Classic Series? Would using bleach compromise the color?

COUPLE OF KIRBY QUESTI ONS 500 SERIES

I've noticed in quite a few Ebay sales that the old 1950s Crystalaters (red plastic) are often covered with some kind of white powder-like substance. I just got one today and I'm trying to clean it up. What is this stuff? Is it some mold that grows on old plastic? How best to clean it? So...

    Re-thinking the Kirby Rug Renovator

No residue I've used a Kirby shampooer for 20 years. I never have had a trace of residue other than the garbage pulled out of the carpets left behind in the tray, and certainly the surface of my carpet has no sticky feeling whatsoever. I have to wonder if the carpet fabric has something to do...

    Re-thinking the Kirby Rug Renovator

Renovator I can't say that this is my experience with Kirby. My renovators do get out dirt and stains. If it's a serious stain, I do pre-treat the area. Based on what gets pulled out and deposited in the tray and in the suds residue on the top of the carpet, I have to say that I'm getting...

    Kirby 500 series beltlifters

Advice please: Just discovered that my 516 beltlifter has 2 broken tabs that hold the red plastic front to the metal disc at the back. I think this is caused by a crazy stiff belt that is sold for the 500 series, but then the plastic was old anyway. I can probably find a belt lifter one of...

    Kirby Sanitronic Question

Sanitronic VII Hey guys, I just got a pretty good Sanitronic VII from Craigslist. I'm a bit confused between the 562 and the Sanitronic. Was the 562 given a second name of Sanitronic? Was the Sanitronic VII a separate model from the 562? My serial number plate says Sanitronic VII so what is...

    ADVICE FOR MY KIRBY 516

more info Thanks Adam. When the belt is actually on the pulley, isn't the belt lifter all the way down? Maybe it's the brush roll striking the lifter? Hum... how could this be? I'll check! Kenhart: Old stethoscopes are great for stuff like this. I may give it a try. And if I do have...
