What is the quietest vacuum cleaner of all time, and what is the noisiest? "Discuss."

I wish these vacuum companies would start considering noise as a factor when building their new vacuums. I would think a 4 amp motor would be much cheaper to produce than a 12 amp. We all know that 4 amps on an upright is plently to clean a rug or bare floor, why do they insist on pushing these...

What is the quietest vacuum cleaner of all time, and what is the noisiest? "Discuss."

My Electrolux Super J is very quiet. Especially after I took it apart and cleaned the fans. Kenmore's Magic Blue vacuum is also a very quiet running vacuum. My Miele upright has variable speeds. When it is on low it is extremely quiet. The loudest vacuum I have ever used is probably a Dirt Devil...

    My latest North Canton finds....

Wow I didn't know that Hoover made convertibles into the 1990's. Were these sold at big box stores, or only Hoover dealers. I don't remember seeing any around here in the 90's. I worked for a small department store in the late 80's and early 90's. We were a big time Hoover dealer until 1987...

    Exclusively Eureka

Hoover1060 It was powder blue with a blue bag. It didn't have a headlight, but an all metal hood. It had a black Dial A Nap dial and creamy white handle relase and on/off switch. I think it did have a vinyl handle cover in blue also. This was probably a bottom of the line basic machine since it...

    LUX

Well, Bob...... nice picture. Love the the XXX models. NICE pic of you too. You are in great shape. Hope I didn't come across too forceful in my post about LUX. I sure didn't mean to. We are all good people in here. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Tim

    LUX

I think ..... that if shortened names bother you, then maybe you should refer to yourself as Robert. Come on man, life is way too short to worry about what people call vacuum cleaners. Sorry if Lux offends you. It has always and probably will always be used in reference to Electrolux cleaners. Tim

    Exclusively Eureka

Wow thanks, man. I love those old Eurekas. I sure wish I could find my mom's blue one from the seventies. It had the same color scheme as the blue canister in the middle of the OEM machine pic. It had a white rocker foot switch and a white handle release switch. I knew there would be someone out...

WERE Eurekas considered "cheap" compared to Hoover? They were very popular down here in the south. Tim

    Exclusively Eureka

eureka/ge tool I would love to see some old eurekas. My mom had blue upright back in the seventies. It was the dial-a-nap without a headlight. Probably a pretty cheap one since it was a second vac to her Lux Golden J. I used to love that old eureka. I pretended it was a lawn mower to "mow" our...

    See it Clean

I Think those pig vacuums are used in industry situations and theatres. That is the only place I have seen them anyway. Has anyone got any videos to put in see it clean? Tim

So When do you think some of these vacuums will be in the "see it clean" section? I can't wait. I am so excited. Tim

Convertable to match the new Connie

I agree The only way the Convertible would make it today is to have the ability to clean bare floors. They would have to add a squeegee and a non-beater bar brush roll. Hoover could pair it with a constellation or that little shoulder vac they make. I know they could give Oreck and the Oreck...

    See it Clean

I love this section of the site. The old Hoovers have a great sound. I hope more people will post videos of their vintage vacuums running. I would love to hear an old Hoover constellation and a Lux G. I have never heard these machines running. I have been told they are very quiet. Keep them...
